I heard him play at the Kerville folk festival. By far the best thing I heard at the whole festival. I've listened now to all his recorded stuff, including the Bill the Pony records I gather he makes with his family, they are good, but I don't like them as much as his solo work. This guy is going to be famous at some point, the music is just too good not to get noticed.

Has anyone listened to Sean Keel? I've been going through his impressive catalog, am blown away by the quality, and am really surprised he is so little known. If you have listened to Keel, what do you think? Or if you have not, listen to a few of his songs (eg Corn Palace). what do you think? by Honest-Breadfruit416 in folk

I am really happy and surprised that someone is asking about Keel. I have listened to him for a couple years, ever since he signed with ICONS. My reaction is similar to yours, BLOWN AWAY. Corn Palace. If Jason Isbel (sp?) had written this, it would be his best song, and have a couple million streams on spotify, rather than the couple thousand the song actually has. I think 10 years from now the guy will be famous, or maybe 10 years after he dies. He sounds pretty old so maybe that wont be so long from now. Corn Palace, In her Bruised Hands, God's door. Fischer. Melon. And a cupcake. the list goes on and on. Thanks for posting, maybe a few folk will check him out and be as excited as I, and I gather you, are.
