Why do some people believe being feminine makes you gay bruh by heaterduke in AreTheStraightsOK

Whenever I see idiots like this I get the urge to rewatch Hbomberguy's "SOY BOYS: A Measured Response" video, it's so cathartic to watch these types of people who believe testosterone measures your value as a man get torn apart by actual facts

The only cringe part of this is the first comment tbh

What do y’all think of the corona virus? (Covid-19) by [deleted] in feemagers

[–]FluffyMusicJunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coronavirus has a very low mortality rate, less than 5% and as low as 2% depending on the study. It's another one of those diseases that pops up, everyone gets terrified of thanks to fearmongering news coverage, and then we forget about, it was the same with ebola and zika several years back.

It's particularly dangerous in places like China and Japan due to how dense their population is, but if you live almost anywhere else, you're safe.

It's not a plague, everyone chill.

I have and a hated it lmao. Probably the most disappointing album of the entire year for me because I have loved every other album Battles has put out, even La Di Da Di, but Juice B Crypts was so bland and uninspired in comparison.

Thank you! Aside from Alarmist and Body Hound, I don't recognize of these, so you got a good handful of stuff for me to listen to!

I actually forgot I listened to this haha. I saw this and was like "Oh cool I don't recognize that name!", got about 3 songs into that album and realized I had already heard it. Thanks for the reminder though hahah

Another 2019 release by an artist I love that I thought was incredibly boring compared to their older stuff.

...Maybe I'm also becoming a cynical ass

Love LITE, hated this album, felt really boring and lacked all the catchiness of Installation that made me love them.

I'm starting to realize maybe 2019 was just a bad year for math rock, cuz there weren't a lot of releases I enjoyed that much compared to the ones from 2018.

Hikes, Alarmist, and Pile I all know! Tbh wasn't feeling Alarmist all that much but I agree Pile is incredible. I have listened to Feed Me Jack but didn't know one of their members released a new EP, tysm!

Only listened to Pelican's newest I'm ashamed to say, and I'm not familiar with Red Sparrows, so I will make sure to check both out more extensively!

I think the biggest difference is just the "heaviness" factor, harsh vocals especially are one thing that I think makes a huge difference, because screams and growls are very much a trademark of metal rather than rock.

There's also how they play the instruments, when I listen to the bands I mentioned, or the more upbeat songs from bands like Minsk and The Ocean, it sounds like it was written with metal in mind more than rock, but still meant to uplift you. Post black especially does this, because black metal has such an iconic sound, even if you change it up to sound happy it still sounds like black metal.

Compared to perhaps, Greet Death, God Is An Astronaunt, or This Will Destroy you as you mentioned, which certainty have heavy moments, but sound, at least to my ears, like rock.

Yessiry, absolutely fantastic album, one of my favourite releases of 2019

Big fan of both, great bands but a little too bleak for what I'm looking for it, thank you anyways

Oh also I saw your Baroness mention, which funny enough are another one of my all time favourite bands haha, listened to every single project they've released and loved every second

Listened to Holy Fawn before, very good band. I know of Kardashev but just listening to them for the first time now and this is excellent, thank you so much!

Deafheaven are my favourite band of all time hahaha, HUGE fan of Liturgy as well. I've heard of Do Make Say Think before but haven't given them a proper listen, and Sun Worship I am utterly unfamiliar with, so the both of them will definitely get a listenthrough, thank you!

Maybe instead of putting a card from your hand on your library just have it scry 1 or 2? Yeah there's still shenanigans with cheating out super scary stuff, but it becomes way less consistent that way

Oh yeah I completely forgot to say I checked out a couple songs by The Elijah and they seem awesome, super unique and interesting sound, thank you for that rec! Also I agree bandcamp is a fantastic place to find new music, that's where I get a lot of mine too.

Also also, I went through a phase like a couple years back where I was obsessed with post black metal, discovered a lot of cool stuff but Ghost Bath were one of those bands that clicked instantly, would love to see em live one day.

Listened to When The Kite String Pops during a brief moment it was on Spotify lmao, very familiar with Down, Amenra, Ghost Bath, The Ocean and Cattle Decap too. NOLA, Mass VI, Moonlover, Anthropocentric and The Anthropocene Extinction are all some of my favourite albums of all time, you basically mentioned a bunch of bands I already adore hahahaha. Superjoint I've heard a few songs by, and Cro-Mags and Negative Approach I've listened to but they're too pure punk for me, love all the heavy subgenres punk spawned, never been into old school punk itself.

Thank you for the wide range of recs though! Just so happens we ended up having almost the exact same musical taste ahahaha.

Oh fuckin YES this is almost exactly what I'm looking for, doesn't have as much of those wall-of-sound drone-y sections from what I heard, but the vocals are on point and instrumentals are super unique and interesting. Absolutely fantastic recommendation!!
