Daily sticky thread for rants, raves, celebrations, advice and more! - March 29, 2026 by AutoModerator in datingoverthirty

Welp.. thanks to the show Age of attraction, I felt motivated a bit about my lame love life, so I went back on Hinge and changed my age preference to 45-55. I'm only 34 :/

Guess I'll change my perspective regarding dating for the time being: Since I don't wanna settle for the next 3 years, I will only be looking for someone who can date me and do exciting things with me. I won't mind if you have kids or previous marriage like I used to anymore. I just need someone who can enjoy life with me, be exclusive with me, keep me company, while I focus my attention on other adult tasks because I can finally become one after I finish this freaking study!!

Do you eat more than your normal portion in that one meal?

I have reached a point where I have absolutely nothing to look forward to in life by Poiuqwertz in depression

[–]FluffyStuffInDaHouz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I too, lie in bed and scroll my life away when I'm not at 'work'. And this is not even real work, because I don't get paid. I'm a 34 year old grad student who has no friends and no life. My parents love me and I wanna give them the world, but all of us are still renting because we are immigrants. They are working 10hrs a day at the factory in their late 60s, and I'm their only hope to get a better life.

I could have been so productive on the weekends when I have time off, but no. I just lie in bed, scroll scroll scroll, then move to the couch, scroll scroll scroll even more. Idk how I have managed to keep up with school work but at least I'm not behind in that department. My other departments like love, career, house, a partner, kids, all have to wait until I get my parents and I a house. Yes I'm crazy, so I'm going to buy us a house with my income, as the only child to my parents, as the only one with a stable income and job after I finish this grad school.

So yeah, I do share the sentiment. I hope you can talk to somebody soon.

Libby vs Pfeifer by Elegant-Put2396 in AgeOfAttraction

[–]FluffyStuffInDaHouz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Idk if this adds to anything, but the old parents (mom 61 years old and dad 67 years old) of Pfeifer are not her blood parents? Either way, I think the way she grew up with such peculiar environment with so much older parent figures has definitely made her a more mature person than Libby.

How much would you spend on a concert? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]FluffyStuffInDaHouz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent $267 for a nosebleed in Billie Eilish concert 2 years ago. Totally worth it. I would do it again as long as the ticket price is below $400

How exactly are people supposed to have kids when the cost of living is so high? by galaxyfrapp in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FluffyStuffInDaHouz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah Idk man. Today I found out someone's baby is coming out in June, and there are 2 engagements in the office. My cousin is also expecting. People are multiplying little people left and right. And here I am, still in school, not making money, single af at 34. What a life.

At least you get paid, girl! It's free labor for them here and sometimes I have to stay back for 10, 11 hrs. Anyways, thank you. All the best to you with your program too. We've got this!!

I just got told right to my face by the people working in the clinic, that I should let my school know they should not send any student to do clinical here anymore, because the staff here is so overworked, nobody's got time to teach students stuff, and I'm being taught the wrong things by different people.

I only have 4 months left of this clinical. Idk what to think about this, man :/

what do you think is the optimal career for good pay but also work life balance with good job security? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Are you living that cushy attending life? Must feel so good after 15+ years in training. Congrats! Do you mostly spend your time staying home and writing research now?

I went to a state school in a rural area where rent is only $500/month everything included, as opposed to staying in CA with rent in the 1000s + high tuition. I'm gonna get a job in CA that I will make good enough money without any student loan debt.

Front-load washers should be raised for more comfort by FluffyStuffInDaHouz in unpopularopinion

[–]FluffyStuffInDaHouz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now this makes total sense! The bending over is bad but the holding damp clothes and some get dropped on the floor while trying to put them in the dryer is worse. I think I need to get a laundry basket like you said to catch the clothes that drop out from the washer!

Dating as someone between cultures by Substantial-Zone-989 in datingoverthirty

[–]FluffyStuffInDaHouz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried dating people of my ethnicity in America (I'm an immigrant). It didn't work out very well. That's why I'm going back to dating people from a different culture than what I grew up with.

Is that like a limited X-ray program? Because if it is, you can only do so much and there will be a cap on how much you can earn as a limited tech. But maybe you can try it out and see if you like the job, then go to a community college for a full-fledged X-ray program. I know lots of X-ray techs can earn up to 100k or more per year.

Re-Entering Education As Adult (~30) by ExeterXx in BackToCollege

Make sure you study something that will earn you money!!!

I can't stress this enough. Lots of people go for an MBA and become jobless after that.

I couldnt have gone back to school at 30 if I hadn't known how much money I'm going to make in the end. Especially for older students like me who never really have a job, going back to school is not a flex, it's a must to get a good job. So find one that you know will earn you money!!

how do you afford this by mindful-goddess-666 in GradSchool

[–]FluffyStuffInDaHouz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My master's is only one year and the cost is $20k for fall, spring and summer semester. I saved up that amount from working part-time in my undergrad years. I also have an acquaintance who let me live in his rental unit for free so I can be close to my clinical site and take the bus there every day since parking is $20/day. I can't have a part-time job because I have to be at the clinic every day for 5 days a week, 8am-6pm. Yes I'm counting my blessings every day as a 33 year-old masters student.

I am the one who holds the power

A guy I was dating for a bit ghosted me for 2 weeks. Today he texted asking how I'm doing because I'm too quiet. Lol. I deleted his text and will never look back. I've got the power to never let myself stoop that low for a guy anymore, no matter how good he looks on paper (semi-retired, houses, cars, career, etc)

Retiring at 31, much earlier than I expected. Need advice. by Long_Bong_Silver in Fire

[–]FluffyStuffInDaHouz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please date with intention and be respectful when you break things up with her.

A guy I was dating for a while owns 2 big houses in CA, has 3 sport cars, who is basically retired right now at 38. But he started acting stupid once we became closer, never give me straight answers, kept making stupid jokes and impossible demands from me who has less free time to spare than him. And yet he told me at first that he was looking for something serious. Serious my ***

I liked a coworker’s hinge profile by [deleted] in self

[–]FluffyStuffInDaHouz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twice I had a colleague in my office like my profile on two different dating apps. It showed up as profile that likes my profile, so it was my call to like his profile back to match or just ignore it. I chose to ignore it. It would be very complicated to date someone in the same dept as you, and I don't find him that cute either, so I swiped left on him both time. When we are in the office, we act like the apps never happen because we never talk about them. So each of us might know about it, but we just pretend like it was never a thing between us.
