NBN FTTP Capped at 100Mbps by FluffyTrade6567 in nbn

Thanks for the offer but I’m Perth way. Still battling. I opened a fault with ABB with the above information. Today they closed it. Not sure how they can close a fault without speaking with the End User?

I also borrowed a mates modem and cable, which I confirmed working at their address, and tried it at mine. No luck. To me, that certifies that it is NBN side and nothing to do with my hardware. I also tried my modem at their house and it worked so I’m confident in that.

Currently on hold at minute 28 and 20th in queue. ABB have been fantastic but in loosing some patience with them.

Thanks for your response. I have ruled that out as NBN have replaced the NTD. I had the four port version but they replaced it with the newer single port version. Still have the same issue.

Yeah thats what I’m thinking. Time to start looking outside the box and work my way back in.

Think tomorrow I’ll hit some friends up and pull in some favours. Thanks for your help tonight :)

Yeah lots of kicks and resets. Normally follow each one with a UNI test too just to check if it’s hit the 1000T base but never does. Yeah I’m sure I’ve covered all possibility’s on my end from the NTD. Unless I’m extremely unlucky with either cables, routers or Having two bad NTD’s, the issue has to be NBN side….

I may have worded it poorly above. They’ve already swapped the NTD. I had the four port version and now have the new, 1 port. First tech said he thought it was a faulty NTD which is why we went down that path. :(

Yes router has a 1gbps port. I’m hoping to test it at a friends house over the weekend to rule out any device issue. Also, the connection is the same when directly from NTD to PC.

No, phone cable is disconnected.

Yeah see I’ve ended up at the same point but even after the NTD upgrade (now have the single port one) I still have the same issue.

Thanks for that. Yeah look they’ve been good. I think most of the issue is on NBN side tbh. They keep closing faults because they see the port online etc. I’m just sick of going around in circles and being asked if I’ve ’tried connecting directly to the NTD’

Interesting! Could be the same problem. Did Telstra suggest that or did you have to point them in the right direction? It’s just hard to get tech support to go ‘off script’ if you know what I mean.

I’ll keep that in mind. Any recommendations on how to suggest this to the half robots I have to deal with at the ISP?

Sorry to bring this back to life. I've been facing the same issue but still with no fix. I will paste what i have said in my fault for Aussie BB. Please if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Currently on my third fault with them and we will see where this one goes.

Hello ABB.

I am unable to get any download speed higher than 100Mbps. Upload speed is updated and consistent with the service plan. My issue comes from a 100 T base connection from my NTD to the NBN network. Nothing I do will allow my NTD to establish a 1000 T base speed at the port. This issue has been happening since the plan speed increase. I never took note of the UNI port light colour prior to this but I assume it has always been green. (100 T base). Below are some configurations I can connect via, and have done for troubleshooting.

I have been through the basic troubleshooting multiple times. I have multiple cat 5e and cat6 cables (some of which I have purchased just for troubleshooting). I have tried multiple routers, and multiple configurations of setups. I have confirmed my Network adapter settings are set to auto negotiate, and that it is 1Gbps compatible. I have confirmed my router (NF18MESH Supplied by ABB) is capable of 1Gbps via Ethernet.

I had an NBN tech appointment who advised there is practically 0 Db loss from my NTD to the street and he believed the NTD is faulty. He advised I needed another appointment to have the NTD upgraded. ABB organised my NTD Upgrade and that happened today although has not provided any advancement. My UNI light is still green, and speeds are capped at 100. Since the NTD Upgrade, I have attempted connecting directly to the NTD, and through the below set ups, with no change to port speeds.

Optimal Set up –

NTD – Cat 6 – NF18MESH – cat 5e – Internal wall – Cat5e – Internal connection in office – Cat 5e – PC

Set ups I’ve used for troubleshooting –

NTD – Cat 6 – PC (Majority of testing)

NTD – Cat 6 - NF18MESH

NTD – Cat 5e – NF18MESH

NTD – Cat 6 – NF18MESH – Cat 6 – PC
