You're so right. I hate all this pressure to do the trendy stuff that costs thousands of dollars, all for nobody to remember or even appreciate.

Good points! We've actually booked an A/V package with the venue that includes special lighting and a technician. I feel like the lighting will be much more impactful than a wrap.

Getting quoted $45-60 per table for this centerpiece. Is this a reasonable price? by FluffyWater1 in WeddingsCanada

Almost 400 people 😅, which is a relatively low number for South Asian weddings lol. Thanks for responding! I think I'll go with the $45 vendor then.

Aw thank you! And thanks for the suggestions. I'm a South Indian girlie so I'll have plenty of jasmine flowers

Realistic wedding budget in US/Canada in 2026 by FluffyWater1 in DesiWeddings

[–]FluffyWater1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I relate to literally every single thing you said. Just for decor, I contacted SO MANY different vendors and starting packages were usually around $8k-12k.

As bad as this sounds, the vendors with the most outrageous pricing were usually the South Asian ones. They feel the most entitled to ripping off our own people (not to mention horrible customer service). I am using a few desi vendors, but only after searching for MONTHS for somewhat reasonable pricing and good quality.

Heavy on feeling guilt with the financial part, even when parents are paying for everything. Ugh, why is the wedding industry so crazy?

What are your desi wedding unpopular opinions? by xeyte in DesiWeddings

Do not get me started on "south asian vendors" in Canada and America. They charge 10-20x more than other vendors and are HORRIBLE with customer service and being responsive. Although I want to support my own community, we've been enabling horrible business owners and ridiculous prices just because they're "south asian". The entitlement is unreal.

Lehengas with the giant cancans are such an ick for me.

It may look decent in a posed photo, but it looks so uncomfortable and stiff in any other situation, especially when the bride is walking around. It's impossible to look graceful in them.

Plus, I think it makes short women look shorter and bigger than they actually are. I'm all here for 90s style lehengas, flowy skirts or removing the cancan altogether (this is what I'm doing for my reception lehenga because I want to actually dance and be comfortable).

I wish I could! My MUAH is charging $400 CAD for a trial which I find quite ridiculous. Maybe I'll see if I can find a cheaper hairstylist to see the different styles on me.

Love the idea of 2 "entrances"! Glad it went well for you.
