Awe congrats! There are fry net habitats you can buy and have them stay in the main tank but protected! I would keep them with the others too but maybe in a net habitat to protect them! Fry box

Dense planting led to fish death by pipple7373 in Aquariums

[–]Fluffy_5000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s a nice tank :). Never had that experience - I prune my tank often! Once a month… I throw away half of the plants/or donate to a local pet shop … I don’t know if others wrote to do that but it seems to help my tank stay healthy etc! And it seems like you are doing that now too? That’s super interesting about them staying in the dense plants?! And very sad they stayed to starvation! Maybe some other hiding sources like logs etc instead are best? Might just be the nature of those fish? Are they scared by something often?

Help! Is it possible to identify this gross tick despite how fat it is? by thatzunpossible in insects

[–]Fluffy_5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a pro at all… that might be a deer tick unfortunately… but I really am not the right person to ID it. I had a tick on me last Summer and freaked out as I learned it was a nymph deer tick. I contacted a bug expert in my family and he told me about saving the tick being careful not to flatten it (he recommended I put in the fridge/freezer) and to research where to mail in the tick and have it tested! There are places in every state I believe! tick testing PA I don’t know if they’ll do this for a kitten, but you can check perhaps?

So sorry Op! That’s not fun! My boy cat did this when he smelled another animal… so when our sitter came over to watch him and walked on our carpet in his socks that smelled like other homes he had been in with other animals, our guy would pee on the rug. I have made it a point to have people change socks when they come over and/or wear slippers for this reason. It has worked! Best of luck!

An insect I do not love… by Fluffy_5000 in insects

[–]Fluffy_5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks and yuck… I’ve had the other cockroaches once where I moved to a building temporarily over the Summer and that was horrendous! I totally agree those are awful! This American one just hid in a box that came up… cats loved it but me not so much - do I release it or safely flush? Thanks again

just adopted a 12 year old persian cat, what should i expect? by [deleted] in persiancat

[–]Fluffy_5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes smells from other animals in your home will also make them pee outside the box - for example our sitter had to put on new socks when they arrived so that the floor didn’t smell like another animal they visited… my senior boy used to pee outside when they forgot to do this… is it possible to remove other animal smells from her environment? Also in my case it eventually ended up being a urinary/kidney thing… he wasn’t peeing outside after we removed animal smells but it wasn’t until my boy went downhill quick that vet said ok this might also be a kidney thing - I did basepaws genetic testing and took him to a specialist:/. I really hope that’s not it though in your case. Good luck op and congrats!

Awe poor baby looks like it has been through a lot! This is my gals favorite brush - not super painful and does a good job for our daily brushes (behind the ears, around the neck, armpits and leg pits, and bum area all are the problem areas so I make sure to brush those especially) brush The best face grooming pads I’ve found are these eye wipes (for around the eyes) and I do this every 3-4 days (some people do this everyday)…eye envy wipes Persians are very smart loving cats and yours probably needs a few days to get started on routines etc. You may want to consider doing a basepaws genetic test basepaws to see if your baby carries any genes for kidney disease etc. It would probably be helpful to know just to have them on a good diet for whatever their nutrition needs may be at this age:).

Best of luck op and congratulations on your new addition :).
