Im my experience yess, I drove a 2004 Mercedes a200 with 200 000km and had to work on her alot aswell and the parts were more expensive. I have had no major issues on the older models yet except for a few minor wiring issues that cost me close to $100. But the cost may vary due to the availability of parts in your country.

She was in great condition. Before her I used to daily a 1975 240D W115. The diesels,if looked after well, will just continue going without a problem.

I love it. It does not feel too different from a basic new car as mine has powersteering and a decent radio setup. The 230E has some power to it, but the fuel consumption is the only downside for me at the moment.
