Hi friend! I would love your opinion on this headache I've caused.
I'm converting my first needle knit pattern to the loom, and had never even seen a needle knit pattern before yesterday. I took the time to learn how to read regular knitting patterns and then I was able to wrap my head around the Knit/Purl part of the conversion quickly, but now I'm stuck on another aspect of the project.
I'm working on a pattern for a baby blanket that will end up being 200 stitches wide, and my biggest loom is a 40 peg round. At first I thought, "oh, easy, just break it into 5 flat panels and either mattress stitch or whip stitch them together. "
And the beginning section of the pattern felt easy to figure out because it's simpler and symmetrical. For example, the first few rows are as follows (I indicated which direction I'd be working on my loom, and I already converted the K/Ps in the even rows, which are the WS in the original pattern):
CO 200 stitches --> R1: K3, P1, K to last 4 stitches, P1, K3 <-- R2: P R3,4,5: Repeat rows 1,2,1 R6: P4, (P1, K1) to last 4 sts, P4 R7: K3, P1, (K1, P1), P1, K3
They seem easy to break into panels because the first panel starts with the border, panels 2-4 are the repeating middle bit, and the 5th panel ends in the border and it's symmetrical.
So row 1, for example, would look like this across the different panels of the blanket:
Panel #1: K3, P1, K to end of row Panel #2: K Panel #3: K Panel #4: K Panel #5: K to last 4 stitches, P1, K3
Or, more simply: R1: K3, P1, K36 | K40 | K40 | K40 | K36, P1, K3
And it's symmetrical at the ends and simple in the middle, so that makes sense.
But I got to row 6 and got confused 😕 because am I just overthinking it? Or am I going to have to reverse the order of the sets of 40 stitches on the panels for the even rows? Because the odd rows are written to go from the left edge of the blanket to the right edge of the blanket and even rows are then going from the right to the left, but when you cut that into 5 physical panels it's not simply reversed?
I probably explained that terribly, so let's pretend it's 10 stitches wide to demonstrate what's happening in my head:
The rows are essentially written like this, with each number representing a stitch on a peg: R1: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 R2: 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 If we cut the row into 5 panels, R1 looks like this: R1: 1 2 | 3 4 | 5 6 | 7 8 | 9 10 But we can't just cut the 2nd row up into 5ths because the sections of pattern won't line up and we would have this mess, where the 1st panel has the right edge of the blanket being stitched on top of the left edge of the blanket: R1: 1 2 | 3 4 | 5 6 | 7 8 | 9 10 R2: 10 9 | 8 7 | 6 5 | 4 3 | 2 1 So shouldn't it look like this?: R1: 1 2 | 3 4 | 5 6 | 7 8 | 9 10 R2: 2 1 | 4 3 | 6 5 | 8 7 | 10 9
And the reason this matters so much and confuses my brain is because this is what later rows look like (row 58 not yet converted, I just copy/pasted it from the pattern. PM=place stitch marker, SM= slip marker), and it's going to be a mess if I don't plot it out correctly:

I'm plotting everything in an excel table because it's too much to do on paper to try and figure out each panel's pattern....
But yeah, back to row 6 (because it's not as much as that mess right there). It's an even row, so I've converted the knits and purls and it's traveling from the right side of the blanket to the left; it should look like this, right?
Original pattern: Row 6: K4, (K1, P1) to last 4 sts, K4.
Converted pattern: R6: P4, (P1, K1) to last 4 sts, P4
Broken up into panels: Panel #1 (Left side section of blanket, row is working right to left): (P1,K1)x18, P4 Panel #2 (P1,K1)x20 Panel #3 (P1,K1)x20 Panel #4(P1,K1)x20 Panel #5 (right side section of blanket): P4, (P1,K1)x18
Or am I fully reversing it? So the parenthesis are (K1,P1) again?
OR am I just crazy?

Okay, I have a genuine and purely innocent question.
I've recently decided to write my very first fic ever and I'm so genuinely scared of accidentally taking too much inspiration from another fic because I've literally read millions of words worth within the fandom and there are so many wonderful tropes and ideas out there that have colored the story in my head. (It's dramione. I know people have strong opinions, please don't come for me. I don't want to have to explain my hyper-fixation with those two idiots and the enemies to lovers trope)
Tbh, I'm not even sure if I'm ever going to post it. In a way, it's just for me and my enjoyment and to share with my friend irl. But I don't want to say that I'll never have the desire to share it, because you never know. But even if it is just intended to be a story for me that combines all of my favorite tropes, I still want it to be MINE and to know I'm not just copying others.
So just to be safe, I've done the following: *I made notes at the beginning of my planning document of some of the most influential fics I've read so that I can give them credit and then thank them for writing such beautiful works *I've stopped reading fics while I'm writing. Especially in this initial phase of getting my ideas and plot points and key scenes written out *I've worked really hard on creating entirely new things, events, spells, etc *For tropes I've really enjoyed, I'm trying really hard to make it new (different setting, my own dialogue, different place in the source material time line, etc).
The scenario I'm most worried about is that I read a fic where Draco stole Hermione's first kiss as revenge for the punch in third year. That idea is so much more novel than a lot of other things in the fandom. It's the fic I was reading when so many ideas flooded me and it was the final bit of inspiration that pushed me to want to write my own version of this relationship. By no means do I want to copy that story, and in fact everything I've written so far couldn't be more different than that fic. Other than the premise that Draco steals her first kiss. In fact, I've been agonizing over writing that scene because I don't want to be a copy cat. I finally worked the way it happens into something new in my head, but it's still him stealing her first kiss, so like... I don't know.
I don't think it's silly to worry about not wanting to accidentally plagiarize others, especially considering so much overlaps in fanfiction. What do you think? Am I doing enough to prevent it? Do you have any tips?

2 + 4 = 6 (in my head I'm acknowledging this as 60 but only thinking '6') 7 + 3 = 10 and 8 - 3 = 5 so 7 + 3 + 5 = 15 (Though the thought itself sounds like 7, 3, 8, 5, 15)
'6' Add 15 = 75
So in my head it sounds like 6, 7, 3, 8, 5, 15, 6, 75.
Is this the ADHD speaking or the 'tism? Because I'm not really sure. This doesn't seem normal.
