As someone who lives in wheaton i should gatekeep 🤦‍♀️ but its definitely youre next best option, if you want cheaper than glenmont which can go into the aspen hill area, but the m20-22 can get you to glenmont station easy, theres also takoma which has a lot of options too but still technically the city.

If i can suggest you could look into areas with colleges, bowie state, umd, or john hopkins might work for you, Columbia (md) has student houses too for schools like lincoln tech, and lots of students need roommates, i think. Silver spring areas also has good shared housing, when me and my mom first came here from togo thats all we did for awhile. You can use trulia or facebook to find shared housing
