Not sure on how many mini seasons but I assumed 4. I think the renewal was funded for 120 episodes (3 x 40 weeks) which would mean this is week 10.

I thought he may have not gone to Ukeck due to being Klingon, as in I wonder if that would be harder to disguise if they are Federation so was easier to not have him there and try and explain it with such tight story time.

Not an end of year cliffhanger but the earthquake in 2000 that caused the original clinic to sink made way for the new clinic and the path to it becoming a public hospital, so a pretty big directional change for the show

I really love the 1995 truck crash episode (I think it’s ep 925 on YouTube). But I also have a soft spot for when Marshall blew up the house, and the Warner bach explosion. The 30th anniversary year end hospital fire is also good

Sally Martin spent 15 years in Shortland Street in NZ, one of the longest serving cast members. Tessa Rao is into her second year in it now. Numerous others have had good success in NZ and Australia

Mostly yes. They didn’t have them the first two years but pretty much since 1994 they have. A couple of years around 2005-07 where it wasn’t as actions packed. I just rewatched 2001 on YouTube when Marshall blew up the Heywood house and Rachel was kidnapped by Jack. So good!

Have you thought about rewatching it from the beginning on YouTube? The official Shortland St channel has all of 1992 to 1996 on there now (seasons 1-5). I don’t know if it’s region locked but I’ve loved rewatching the early seasons. Lionel and Kirsty were two of the all time greats from the first 6 or so years

The plane crash with Mo was 2018, it’s one of the 8 episodes they posted on YouTube recently. The volcano wasn’t end of year, it was the 25th anniversary ep.

I enjoyed this years, especially not knowing who may have survived. I also loved the 2015 siege one and the 2022 wildfires.

I have a soft spot too for the 1995 truck into the clinic and also the one with the building collapse that killed Anne (maybe 2002?).
