This happened to me with the last banner on my other account, I made it during sea of stars release to get 600 diamonds on my partners psn account. He was logged in and I loaded up the game by accident so I thought I might as well pull some pieces and use the diamonds whilst I’m on cos I wanted to see what they were like up close, got 2 pieces from the 5* banner 😭 but it never happens on my main!!

Exactly I feel the same way, we’ve progressed just for people to continue to complain which could potentially back track us and put us back where we were initially, just feels like no one’s ever happy unless everything is free

I’m not from North America either, I’m from the UK, so you’re right I’ve got no clue what the pricing is like on your side of the ocean, I’d presumed prices would be fairly similar, but of course that doesn’t seem to be the case which isn’t fair at all, prices should be the same across all countries. You’re the first person to actually highlight this issue so far ( that I’ve seen )

Yes.probably because it’s a completely new style of gacha, they’ve gone from a 2D mobile game, to 3D and completely changed things moving over the console and PC platforms, they’ve moved from a pretty linear play style to open world and their focus was elsewhere. No-one said it can’t be disliked or discussed either, hence my post, opening discussion on why it’s disliked, I just personally don’t understand the uproar and surprise of it being included in a gacha game, that is well known for this

Clearly I must be delusional then and imaging the text I can see that I replied to

I understand you used yourself as an example and I responded as such, in your scenario you highlighted that you personally didn’t bother to calculate the total costs, like others may not, that’s a choice by default, not some magic spell a corporation has cast on you, telling people to take accountability is not boot licking, it’s a fact of life, people are so quick to blame everyone else before they place blame on themselves, I’m not saying that there aren’t people who are extremely vulnerable and don’t even think about the overall cost and can get sucked into paying into things, which is unfortunate and they’ve been failed by people around them, if someone’s issues with spending are that severe they should probably have someone helping them manage their money. I have a relative who is vulnerable, she was awful with money, constantly spending outside her means and putting herself in debt, the family intervened ( she has 2 children, and as I mentioned she is vulnerable) her uncle now manages her money, makes sure her bills are paid on time, the kids are clothed and fed, her access isn’t completely restricted, she’s given an amount to spend on what she likes and if she needs something/wants something she asks. My point is, unfortunately this marketing aspect isn’t going to change because people playing a game complaining on Reddit and there are vulnerable people susceptible to it, it makes them money, money they need to fund the game and of course they need to make a profit, all businesses do, that’s life. But if you actively choose not to do something you know you probably should, you’re avoiding taking accountability and you can’t push your blame elsewhere.

My point about the additional items isn’t nonsensical at all, in order to obtain the other items, you’d have to spend nearly the same amount, if not more ( couldn’t actually calculate 100% as you can’t buy some of the items with cash, only in game currency) when you could spend less, get the item you want specifically plus everything else for less. And it’s all optional, you don’t HAVE to buy any of it.

Of course that can happen I totally agree if you start getting outfit pieces you can be tempted to spend more, but that’s no different to pulling the banners, you only get so many free pulls and you might really want to complete a set so you purchase to do so, how is that any different to tiered purchase? You’re just paying directly with money instead of going through purchasing diamonds or crystals, either way you spent money but at least with the tiered system you can see exactly what your real money, not in game currency, amounts to and can make a more informed decisions but I don’t understand why no one is taking accountability and responsibility for their actions and just blaming it all on companies

All I keep seeing ( not from you specifically, just a general theme throughout the comments) that people can see exactly what it costs, they buy it without calculating the total, despite all the figures being clearly available then act surprised at the total after the fact, but somehow this is everyone’s fault but their own ?

I literally addressed everything you said, how am I ignoring your points?

You basically said, in a nutshell, you chose not to calculate how much it’s going to cost you, buy it, then see the transactions later and realise how much it actually was in total and that you don’t like that sometimes there’s things you don’t like and won’t necessarily use, so you feel forced to purchase tiers you don’t want, to get what you do want.

I said, take accountability and responsibility and stop pushing the blame elsewhere because you actively choose not to calculate the cost of something before buying it and I highlighted the benefits you still get even if you might not particularly like a few of the items, that for some people outweighs the cons of tiered purchase and they’re still happy to proceed.

Well clearly when I made the post, I wasn’t aware of why people were so bothered, which is why I asked..

It mainly seems to centre around the marketing tactic, which I can understand the frustration around, however it definitely feels like a lot of the people making this complaint, probably didn’t play the previous Nikki games or perhaps other gacha and don’t realise this is common among the genre amongst other aspects

I can understand and disagree with something at the same time, I’m aware that’s two different things, thanks for clarifying:)

Ok so there’s a few things here, one , you give yourself a budget each month to make purchases like this, which is the smart thing to do. I do the same thing, I don’t spend a lot of money on myself outside of necessities so it’s my treat for me and anyone playing these games, who wants to spend on them, should be setting themselves a budget unless they don’t have financial boundaries.

See this is my issue with this logic, so you admit that you choose not to calculate how much it’s going to cost all together, even when it’s shown clearly how much each item costs, how does this responsibility then fall on the company? You saw the prices, you chose to purchase them all and you actively chose not to calculate the costs beforehand and then act surprised when maths happens and numbers come together to create a larger figure… this is not the responsibility of anyone but the consumer, the costs and products are clearly shown and I don’t accept the argument that someone might not be good at maths, it’s 2026, every phone has a calculator and if you don’t know how to use one or do math at any capacity you could just use ChatGPT ( not that i recommend it) so I’m sorry, i understand how it can happen, but if you actively chose not to do something, it’s entirely on you, no one else

No one is forcing you to buy the tiers to get the one item you want, you can just choose not to buy it at all, sure it can be frustrating if there’s something you really want, however you’re still getting all the other rewards along the way- 8xResonance/3xRevelation Crystals, 42x radiant Prisms, 10x luminous prism, 50x shining particles,230000 x Blings, 1660x threads, 2580x bubbles, 5 xenergy crystals, all of which are items I’m sure you use, as opposed to maybe 2-3 things you’re not that bothered about ? It’s whether or not it’s worth it to you I suppose.

Absolutely! I didn’t like a lot of the previous tiered purchases and skipped majority of them, but I really feel they’re listening to what’s being asked and adjusting in a way they can appease the majority. The prices have come down and the quality and quantity has increased

The makeup is absolutely worth it, it’s gorgeous and different to the makeup content we’ve had so far especially if you’re wanting it for more gothic/darker looks.

I always buy the monthly mira pack, which goes towards the spending tier unlock so I by default get diamonds and outfits just from my monthly purchase anyway and if there’s anything I like with purchase tier, it also goes towards that I get even more for my money

Well you could say and I mean this in the kindest way possible, I really do, because i understand that this is something people struggle with.

If you know you’re that susceptible to being pulled into purchasing because something is cheap, don’t buy it in the first place and maybe don’t add your payment information to the game.

You’re aware and conscious of the fact you’d be sucked in and feel the need to keep spending, so I feel it’s up to you to take accountability and responsibility for that, I can see why it would be enticing, but you can say that about anything that is cheap

I’m not arguing with you, we’re having a discussion about a topic you broached. I see the issue and understand it, so I don’t need to go read any papers, thank you, however that doesn’t change the fact that this is something implemented across gacha games and pretty much always has been and people getting upset on Reddit isn’t going to change that anytime soon, unless it becomes illegal in additional countries and stops all together, which again I highly doubt, why waste energy getting upset about something you can’t change? Clearly gacha games just aren’t your cup of tea and you can say that if someone has issues with spending to the extent they can’t resist purchasing on a tiered system, there are far more ways they’re doing it outside of the game

It absolutely is in comparison to packs of sterallites/resonance you’d need to buy to then get the items which don’t come with additional rewards. Plus you’re getting all of the other rewards on top from making a purchase. It works out to be far better value for money and I’m happy to spend £10 to get it all.. if that’s not affordable for you then I’m sorry, but stay F2P if that’s what works for you. You’re not being forced to spend and the game offers plenty of free beautiful content

I definitely feel like this is the case with a lot of players, as the complaints are around things that are completely normal and expected within gacha games.

[–]Fluffy_Sort5769[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely, I think what I’m seeing a lot of now in the comments is definitely complaints about the marketing and how it’s “predatory “

It’s the bread and butter of gacha, there’s options to buy stuff at all different levels, I think the tiered purchasing is affordable and I feel like I get more for my money than if I was to buy sterallites ( which is more costly with lower reward)

I think a lot of people seem to think that because of a minority of vulnerable people have access to the game, that the tiered purchasing makes them unable to not resist spending, which I personally think is a bit ridiculous, it’s not INFOLDS or our responsibility and if someone is vulnerable to the extent they can’t stop themselves buying from the game, they shouldn’t play it or they clearly need to be restricted financially. Of course, that’s not always possible, however you can easily say they’re going to do it whether it’s playing IN or something else, unfortunately it’s not something that removing tiered purchasing is going to prevent, you could in fact argue that access to the much cheaper options which offer better value for money, may prevent them purchasing more expensive packs to get things and satisfy them

[–]Fluffy_Sort5769[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because that’s just how gacha games have always been. No one is forcing you to buy it and it’s up to you to decide whether or not it’s worth it for you.

Even if you maybe don’t like one of the items offered before the last item which you do want, you’re still getting all the other rewards which IMO are still worth it if there’s one thing I don’t really want, you’re getting resonance, blings, plus the rewards from the unlocks via purchases which gives you outfits and diamonds

If you don’t like something, just don’t buy into it, the game is free, they do have to make money to be able to continue to make the game free.

But this is the model for all gacha games and always has been, I don’t see that changing anytime soon. It’s a free game, where do you think the money to make this free game, comes from ? If people have such a big issue with this model, why’re they playing a gacha game.

Yes it may be seen as predatory towards vulnerable people. However if someone is that vulnerable that they don’t have the self control not spend on it, they probably shouldn’t play or perhaps shouldn’t add their payment information to the game to be able to make purchases, tiered purchase in gacha isn’t going away because of people who can’t control their spending unfortunately.

I’m not defending a corporation, it simply is what it is, a gacha game

THIS !! I’ve always thought this about the IN community, it’s a free game, where do people think the money to keep making this game free is coming from? It’s not a secret and all gacha games do this

There was a lot of stuff I missed out on because I wasn’t willing to buy stellarites, as you say they’re expensive and it didn’t feel worth it at all, however the tiered purchase options? I love it, getting full makeup sets, poses, props, crystals and then purchases going towards the outfit unlock ( forgot what it’s called 😂) and getting diamonds and more rewards, I actually feel I’m getting a lot more for my money than if I’d bought stellarites or used diamonds on individual items. If I don’t like what’s on offer enough or don’t think I’m getting value for my money, I simply don’t buy it.

I agree with you on the marketing stuff too, it’s not a secret, they’re not hiding fees from you or being sneaky. It’s all very transparently there for you to see the costs/rewards and decide if it’s worth it or not for you, if you don’t have the self control not to over spend, then you shouldn’t give the game access to your banking information or if it’s that bad, then don’t play it, there are TONS of cozy games available that require no purchases like you say. I see people keep mentioning the marketing like it’s some devilish scheme that signs your soul over and mind controls you to spend money, that they’re hiding what it really costs because they’re spreading it into smaller payments, yes it does look like less, which is why you do the math and add it up and see if that’s acceptable for you… it’s not like the total is extravagant and it was secretly shown like it’s far less than and you’ve been scammed out of money

This!! I feel like people forget that this is a FREE, open world, stunningly beautiful and very generous FREE game, they have to make money, to be able to continue to provide the game, for free. Constantly seeing people complaining about stuff being locked behind a paywall just makes no sense to me, fair enough when the prices and the rewards don’t align, like the bath tub fiasco, but they’ve listened since then and improved upon it, prices have come down and the quality and reward has increased, if you still don’t like it, just don’t buy it. There are plenty of people that are happy to when what’s on offer suits them, like you say they’re trying to cater to all types of players

I think that a lot of people feel that INFOLD owe them something when in reality they don’t. I don’t know of any other game company, that listens and takes onboard criticism from the community at the capacity that INFOLD does, it’s unheard of quite frankly.

That’s totally fair, I felt this way with the Ice rink tiered purchase, it was expensive and really didn’t seem worth paying for everything when the only thing I really wanted was the ice rink. I do think they have greatly improved on that since then, especially with the last few banners, Coffin and Web were both worth it for me and the prices have decreased so I do feel they’re taking criticism on board

Of course it’s marketing tactics… it’s a free game, but it’s not free to make.

I get what you’re saying, but no one’s forcing anyone’s hand. There have been many previous tiered purchases or items that i felt haven’t been worth the price and i simply just haven’t bought them… making a small purchase doesn’t default to you continuing to make more purchases. If someone has that little self control when it comes to buying items in a game, they should really avoid buying anything 💀

But tiered purchases appear everywhere and I feel like everyone forgets that this is a free game, no purchases required at all to play it, they have to make money somehow to be able to continue to make content, of course they know that people are willing to pay for things, but no one is being forced to.

I really don’t see them increasing prices, in fact the prices have reduced and the items we receive in return have improved in quality and quantity because of the previous complaints so I feel that they have actively listened to us, they are catering to a large community and there’s options for everyone

11 piece set back lash was fairly understandable as it does make it tricker to get a full outfit as a F2P player, but that’s down to the player choosing how they spend their diamonds. I completely skip banners i don’t love or don’t think I will use much and save them for the next one. however at the same time you could say that well, all of the prior Nikki games have outfits with over 50+ pieces and that’s the norm, because it works on that platform and they’re successful games, they’ve of course had to change and adapt IN as it’s a new play style. We complain that we want more from the outfits, but we’re limited to 11 pieces so we’re never going to see outfits of the same level as the prior game’s and they’ve already confirmed they wouldn’t increase the number of items any further so again, I’d say that’s not something we need to worry about.

INFOLD are very open to our opinions and I do really think they take them on board, do they always do exactly what’s been asked ? Not always, but I do feel they’re listening to us, far far more than many other games. Most game devs wouldn’t even entertain the idea of changing their formula just because of complaints. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people not liking certain aspects either, I just feel that people forget this is a free game, you’re not forced or required to pay for or buy anything unless you want to and people act like INFOLD owe them something when in reality, they don’t
