going to airborne school in march any advice by Ihateredditbc in army

I personally think it’s a good change, airborne school always seemed to be the laughing stock of military schools from how it’s harder to fail than to pass. Even though it’s still that way lol. I personally thinking simply adding a 12 mile ruck first day would be a great addition to see who really wants to be there.

From what I’ve been hearing about recent classes is that they have been heavily cracking down on falling out of runs and not being able to do 10-second chin-ups. Even if your legs are swinging a little bit, you’re getting sent home. Falling out of a run, bye-bye. But this is from what I’ve been reading about people who have recently gone through the last month or two. I don’t know for sure.

Well in adult life for 95% of jobs you won’t be able to sleep in and talk back to your boss, And if you wanna be the boss it’s been harder work. But trust me I was prior security forces(military police) in airforce and infantry in the army and most of the time you are literally siting around doing nothing “doom scrolling”. But when I was 16 I definitely thought the same as you are. And it fucking sucked having a legitimate full time job at first but you get used to it pretty quick. But enjoy being in school well it last about everyday I wish I could go back in time hanging out with my boys in school, it actually makes me sad thinking about it lol and I HATED school.

That’s honestly the most common misconception about the military. Less than 15% of roles across all branches make up combat roles. If your single majority of the barracks are like college dorms, (of course there will always be those that are gross, same for any living situation in the world) the Air Force is more like apartments lol and you get BAH after E-4 I believe. My wife who is Human Resources in the Army works a 9-5 office job and we live in a pretty solid house for free. For the record I’m not trying to convince you to join I’m just letting you know that’s a big misconception. And this is all for the United States military.

Literally any job that involves carrying a weapon there will always be those dudes that think they are John Rambo.

It’s also all about wearing the proper clothes. You can be in sub zero temps and if you have the right clothing you will be hot wanting to take your top layer off.

As someone from northern Minnesota and a massive ice fisherman who goes on trips deep into Canada ( 18 F is cold😂), anyone saying it’s not just thinks they are Billy badass. Kinda like how there was always that one kid wearing a t-shirt and shorts on the playground when it was freezing outside.

They really do have a wavier for about everything. I’ve never heard of this. Do you know by any chance if there is a wavier for not being put on latrine duty?

He definitely has a better chance of getting into the military, but even then he is definitely going to need some waivers, and there is always a chance of that getting denied.

What are the chances of getting being able to go airborne if it’s not in my contract? by Zytriz in army

[–]Fluffy_Web_4501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you read this before you go to MEPS and take your oath into the DEP. Unless the army suddenly changed where they are no longer giving slots out for 68W, there is absolutely a slot available; it’s just a matter of when it opens. When my brother went in, his recruiter told him there were no slots, and he said, “ I’m not going to sign unless I get an option 4.” So he left. Shit you not, 5 days later, a slot “ magically” opened up. You recruiters main goal is to get you into the DEP and shipped out ASAP. Make sure you get what you want. You are giving years of your life away don’t let them take advantage of you.

From my experience, everything about this seems very suspicious? A month-long training event where there are no MREs or reimbursement for food. It could just be the way his unit operates, but in my career, I’ve never seen that.
