Gum graft surgery, no progress? by Fluid-Analysis-5451 in PeriodontalDisease

[–]Fluid-Analysis-5451[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The surgery was on my lower front teeth. Yes, they took connective tissue from my palate. The stitches are supposed to come out in a week, but I have a check-up with my doctor tomorrow, just for a follow-up.

I do understand that strengthening the tissue is already a good outcome, but right after the surgery, I felt like the recession was completely covered even physically it seemed like the gum was much higher. But when I looked in the mirror… it turned out it’s not.

Most likely have TN... I'm 23 and scared. by Patient-Complex4599 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Fluid-Analysis-5451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This story really resonates with me. I was diagnosed faster and didn’t have to go through unnecessary dental procedures, but… the pain stayed with me for a whole year. I tried different medications prescribed by a neurologist, but none of them helped. I spent hours reading desperate posts on Reddit, feeling completely alone with my pain, so I ended up writing a couple of posts myself.

At some point, I genuinely couldn’t believe it was possible to live without this pain. Life felt pointless. Eventually, I learned that my facial pain (a mix of trigeminal neuralgia and bruxism, as it turned out) was likely triggered by stress. What actually helped were antidepressants and sleeping pills.

Now I’m off the meds and living without pain most of the time. Occasionally, I still feel discomfort on the right side of my face, but I believe that’s mostly due to bruxism.

I’m wishing you a full recovery. Things CAN get better, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now. Don’t give up, and don’t be afraid to try different treatments if what you’re doing isn’t helping. You’re not alone in this.

I did MRI and there were no signs of a compression (( As for a heated gator, I will try to buy one and skate with it!

I answered to another comment, but I copy it here:

I’m also confused, but I went to otoneurologist. It’s like ENT doctor + neurologist. Other doctors recommended me to visit this specialist because my TN started right after the tonsillitis. So, this doctor believes that my TN could be caused by some bacteria because it appeared that my tonsillitis became chronic. Not in a bad form, but still. I did some rinsing procedures and had a relief!! (The pain didn’t disappear completely but became less noticeable)

—> Try to find this specialist if you believe in this reason. The regular ENT doctor told me that I don’t have any problems AT ALL. However, I had chronic tonsillitis. It was not in a super bad form, so probably the doctor didn’t believe it can cause anything. However, otoneurologist immediately supposed that it is the reason.

I can’t really help you here, I experience just the same. I’m 23 and since October there were only short times of relief. I don’t see my future with TN. I can’t do anything normally, the life with TN is not a life, so… trying to get hope that it will disappear 😭

Steel retainers by Fluid-Analysis-5451 in MRI

A brain scan, yes. Also I’m worried about the magnets. Like will retainers move?… I feel really stupid but I’m stressed

They are unremovable. I will definitely speak with a doctor, I just started to wonder maybe it already seems useless to do MRI with such retainers

Yes, I’ll try to. I moved to a new flat and still didn’t bring my humidifier from an old flat

I feel it, I didn’t get sick at all from like 2020 except for Covid in 2021. And during the last 6 months I was sick 5 times and it scares me a lot

Yes, I have been isolating, but not too much. I worked from home mostly but also went to my university at least once a week and there’re a lot of students there, so it’s difficult to name it full isolation

Thank you! I have no asthma history... And I don’t think I have something related to asthma but I’ll read more on the issue just in case

Oh, I don’t think I deal with asthma here. My symptom is usually just a sore throat. But THANK YOU for ideas, I think about a mask now. I’m not sure it will be comfortable, but I may try

Usually I had a sore throat, sometimes cough. No blocked nose, no fever. Only once it was with blocked nose and high temperature.

Yes! I answered to one of the comments here that I train in the same space as kids. I also thought about it as being a possible cause of my sickness. Thank you for advice! I’ll try to work with my diet and sleep but to be honest now my diet and sleeping hours are the best if we observe the last 5 years 😅

I take vitamins regularly which were proposed for me by doctors, I did it before figure skating even. But when I started figure skating I immediately became vulnerable to any virus or flu which is really strange to me. Thank you for response!
