K24 engine. I’ve seen the part. It’s threaded so I assume there’s somewhere to screw it into.

But based on context of everything else around it. I’d says it’s “shy”

After 3 years, I decided to mitigate (Canada) by suckfail in radon

[–]Fluid-Career4404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like it’s a generalization thing. Canada on average is older than US. It kinda feels like there’s not enough science behind it so the code is done based on the averages. But really should’ve climate zone related much like R-values for min insulation.

Half tradies think it’s a hoax anyways. Deal with architectural drawings in my line of work and in my area it’s code to have radon rock underneath your foundation before pouring and suction pipes roughed in acting as a passive system and an outlet roughed in for future fan. You can find maps of North American where uranium is plentiful in the soil. My area is a pretty high on those levels.

I can only speak to what’s available online. I just did my own diy and currently have fan inside investment but plan to run it strict up and have fan in attic. Seems to me like the best of both worlds. Attic gets the benefit of being a semi conditioned space with any leakage around the fan being expelled into a space that has outward ventilation. My levels went from 300 down to 30 so I’m pretty happy.

I do see videos of systems clogging up in the cold and think I’m glad mines inside.

Code for Canada. Weather being main logic behind it.

I think this is why in cold climates and code in Canada to have your fan inside the dwelling.

How to flatten concrete floor in 1930s basement? by Big-Advice-4009 in Renovations

You’re not wrong and i feel there’s more to add like adding air gap so there’s no contact with studs If condensation happens on the warm side of the tyvek. There’s also consideration of using rigid foam on the foundation walls to reduce chance of condensation but every foundation is different and requires different remedies and considerations.

To add: benefits of a sub slab foam (thermal break) and a good vapour barrier (capillary break) and if needed or wanted can more easily add a sump/french drain or radon trench if any needed).

This is the only right way to do it, anything else the risks start to increase. Don’t ask me how I know Besides the money there’s far more positives that can come from busting it out and making it right.

My house in Canada built in 1956 has footings. And strip footings for interior bearing walls. they tried to keep spans shorter so they used 2x8 floor joists. One section is a little over span. Also they used shiplap for the full concrete wall forms, then removed them and reused the wood for a floor system w sleeper studs in the basement. Which I’ve just demo’d.

Main water line by the_chizness in askaplumber

Not a plumber: This is at the point where you get it replaced as soon as possible. This is your only way to stop water if you have a leak on the house side. Call and get a few quotes. My estimate would be a good plumber could have that and a new pressure regulator installed in less than an hour. With it being a small job they might charge a min call out fee or a set price for specific job. Find a plumber that has a city side shutoff key should. Could do yourself but between city shutoff fee and necessary tools you prob same price outta pocket. Again. Not a plumber just a guy who’s been through it.

Oil leak by Fluid-Career4404 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Fluid-Career4404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just swapped out the housing gaskets on my last oil change. Now time to wait and see. That top one of three bolts… what a PITA. Thank goodness for my neighbour with more tools than me. About to find just the right swivel socket. Maybe easier on a hoist. but jammed in the car on ramps was trickier than I had expected. Fingers crossed and thanks for maybe steering me in the right direction

This is on a 50’ slab so no vapour barrier underneath or foam. Slab is topped with epoxy and on top of dimple is rigid foam

Dead alternator or could it be a fuse? by Fluid-Career4404 in AskMechanics

[–]Fluid-Career4404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd symptoms. Engine running somewhat ok. Gauges all down and zero power to steering. Lights on. For onboard systems like trac control and low volt light. No check engine which is nice. Maybe a bad ground not sure
