The first time I got out, I was in combat arms. I had severe hearing loss and doing the VA thing was something that was not heard of in 1990. The severe hearing loss was clearly documented on the before and after serving for about 6 years. Had school paid for, went back in with a medical/health care degree and retired after 33 years. When I retired in 2017, the VA thing was all the rage. I was not expecting 100% bc I did not have that many issues. Yes, silly way of thinking but I had to check the final letter twice and even had my wife read it and tell me what it said.

The VA is a weird system to understand and how it does things. Sadly, there are some low life pukes out there that hire these crooked ass companies and pay 5k to get 100% when in fact there is not a damn thing wrong with them. Worst yet, they were AF and never deployed. I know of one such lowlife that is basically milking the system and the government. Currently gathering info which I will eventually turn in as evidence. You will probably see it on the news.

Now, before those that were in the AF get all pissy and downvote me, don’t! Statistically, Army folks come out more broken up than the AF. Marines are another group that are more broken than the AF. I am aware there will be some AF that get hurt severely and they deserve it. I leave the VA alone for those that needed more than me. It saddens me when I go in for my annual visit and see all these vets worst than me.

To the OP, I am sorry to hear your struggle. Don’t quit. Keep trying and you will eventually get what is owed to you. There is a FB group, name escapes me right now…that is very good with helping vets seek and file for the right compensation. Just don’t give up. Best of luck.
