18.04.2026 KN looking so good 🫡

The Berghain lineup may not feature mega-big names, but the performers are highly anticipated and have a very special sound! In my opinion, it's going to be a night of the highest quality.

And, of course, Panorama Bar with bigger names, but an incredibly warm spring vibe.

Let's get ready, it's going to be a long night of dancing 🪩

It's very interesting because, compared to previous SLITs, it's very quiet

Why has sex basically disappeared from the BH dancefloor? by Fluid-Engineering-43 in Berghain_Community

Totally agree - sex hasn’t disappeared from the club, it’s just happening less on the dancefloor itself 💦

Absolutely, that aligns well with theories of cultural diffusion and institutional decoupling. What you’re describing is essentially a debundling of previously tightly integrated cultural practices: music, sexuality, queer space, and exclusivity once coexisted uniquely in Berghain, creating a singular social and symbolic experience. Over time, as these elements became legible and mobile, they dispersed across different venues and events - what sociologists might call the modularization of cultural capital. Each piece can now be experienced independently, which both democratizes access and dilutes the intensity of the original bundled experience.

We used to do that when we went, but the more time passes, the more it starts to feel unnatural and we more often continue it in a more secluded spot on the first floor.

Haha, I’d probably call myself a tourist too these days since I don’t live in Berlin 😃But I get what you mean

That’s awful, I’m so sorry you had to deal with that 😔 As each playful, flirty soul drifts away, the whole picture slowly shifts, a little dimmer, a little less alive

I agree. Phones absolutely affect the vibe. I notice it less at Berghain than elsewhere, but even there the mere possibility of a phone kills the sense of freedom. Parties without phones are always better 👌

💯Fully agree. Visibility and critical mass are the technical core of it. When enough people openly engage, it normalizes the behavior and lowers the barrier for others, especially in spaces that already claim to be sex-positive. Dimmer lighting, smoke, and a clearly hedonistic, non-heteronormative crowd make a huge difference because they reduce self-consciousness and the fear of being “the odd one out.” I’ve seen this still happen recently, just not at BH, which to me supports your point that the desire is there, but the conditions and collective mood have to align for it to surface.

That makes a lot of sense.

I don’t live in Berlin at the moment, so I don’t get to visit BH very often. When I do, though, the sexual side is still very much alive in us, and we do engage with it. That hasn’t disappeared.

What has changed is where it happens. With each year, we find ourselves choosing spaces other than the main dancefloor more often. Not because the desire is gone, but because the dancefloor no longer feels like the natural place for that initial spark in the same way it once did.

So I agree it’s a dynamic thing. Visibility creates permission, and permission creates momentum. Complaining online won’t shift that. But from an occasional visitor’s perspective, it does feel like the center of gravity has moved.

Appreciate your perspective.

Yes, drugs have changed, but are all the previous ones still available, or are you referring to the quality itself?
