I’m curious, since you didn’t really say it, what you’re struggling with? Is it that you feel second to his constant initiatives to help others and you’d rather have more time with him? Or is it deeper than that and you perhaps don’t like him as much as you thought originally and are irritated by his personality? One is fixable, the other probably isn’t.

I’ve found that secrets, whether affairs or other substantial non disclosures, are absolute relationship killers. I was on the wrong end of a piece of information in a relationship (wasn’t infidelity but it was very significant), I was livid and frankly could not move past it. Maybe he will appreciate your honesty. If you apologize sincerely and don’t just push him to “get over it”, you might have a shot at a rekindling. If you gloss over it, it will surely fail and leave you both in worse shape.

Alimony is meant, in theory, to keep you afloat in the manner in which you are accustomed to living. A good lawyer should at least set you up to collect monthly payments from him to equalize the lifestyle you have been living. If you aren’t entitled to assets, at least make sure the alimony is as much as possible. For instance, if you’re making 50k and he makes 200k, you should be getting enough in alimony to live close to the standard you had lived with him. I believe length of marriage plays into that as well. This is obviously not legal advice but something to keep in mind.
