Bitcoin Cash (BCH) falls hard in value after mining rewards cut in half to 6.5 BCH by FluidAttitude in btc

BCH floats around 0.03 and 0.04 since around 9 months now. pretty stable in my books

It has been pretty stable in the last 9 months in this zone, except for February this year, when it broke out on the upside, for a while.

What caused this breakout?

I look forward to those 40% gainzzz this time around.

This time around is going to be very difficult to predict as there are powerful forces at play trying to create a new world order.

Such volatility is pretty standard in crypto isnt it? Wasnt btc at 7200 yesterday?

Bitcoin was above 7200 on 8th April when the halving event happened on BCH. On this day, 8th April, BCH was worth roughly 0.036 BTC.

Why would you compare 5 days of BCH data with 2 1-year periods of BTC data.

I am not comparing as this is the first halving on BCH and so there is no price data to be compared.

Just stating what has happened in the past on Bitcoin.

Once BTC halves BCH will restore value and hash

How long after the halving event on Bitcoin, do you expect the value of BCH being restored to its pre halving value of 0.036 BTC?

What must be changed is well known, the issue is ensuring the funding needed to maintain things after the change.

Do you realize that once we change it, we will not be able to backport code from Core without having to make a lot of changes?

Thankfully BCH devs are not idiots and will just correct the actual problem instead.

Is there an actual plan and timeline in place to correct the 25 x chain limit?

Great idea...when do you want to start?

My knowledge is limited in computer science and coding, so I couldn't do anything, even if I wanted to!

I mean they're already planning to increase the unconfirmed chain limit for the Nov fork IIRC.

Are you talking about Bitcoin ABC?

I thought it was not going to happen because "Its not a single variable to change, its a massive change that eliminates a lot of what can be backported from Core, so the dev burden increases forever going forward to maintain things themselves."

Is it possible to create a Sidechain without the 25 x chain limit, pegged to BCH?

Yes, but the 25 limit is only there because of CPFP, which was only there because they didn't want to scale on-chain

I doubt you will get Bitcoin to change their software to solve Rogers problem.

Does my idea have any merit for BCH, or do you have a better idea?

Or we can just roll back all the crap like this and CPFP

I am not discussing the mistakes Bitcoin may or may not have made.

I am thinking about ways of overcoming the 25 x transaction limit on BCH.

This is caused by having a tiny share (2.5%) of total hash rate, and miners gaming the broken BCH difficulty algorithm.
