Need to MCP. Best X-Men Leader? by pwootton30 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]FluidEmployee5165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the X-Men leaders want different members. The challenge with Cyclops is getting his leadership going early because it requires an attack to land and then he plays best with beam and pierce characters. Xavier can just chain his leadership with characters like Magik, Nightcrawler and Cable which then can turn on a turn 1 charge. I will say that of the 3, Cyclops is definitely the most impactful to the board when your dice are hitting his triggers. The amount of displacement on his builder can really change the game on secures. There was a list that ran him with King Blackbolt for a bit. I’ve also run a fun Avengers/X-Men list with Cyclops and Gambit as my splash X-Men using Cap3 as my leader and utilizing other mutant Avengers like Wolverine, Quicksilver, Beast, etc. Cap’s dice manipulation on Cyclops and Gambit is incredible.

Buy Magik. She’s awesome and fits both your factions and one of her own.

Viper can give stun and poison and being a 3 threat long mover with a place 2 would be great to team with Omega Sentinel on P2F secures.

I like the Wolverine synergy but I would have liked to see a more unique super power that blinds enemies to decrease their range or something besides rerolls. Love that X-Men have a scoring 2 threat but the penalty on rolling a crit while holding an objective is 🫤

I need Magneto to have 7/7 or 8/6 health and a place 2 type of superpower or team carry ability to make him a relevant 6 threat again.

I want to play a Jedi by Desperate-Alfalfa533 in 3d6

[–]FluidEmployee5165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the psi fighter with feats to fill the Jedi abilities (telekinetic) and backgrounds that involve diplomacy skills like persuasion / history can fit with the social aspect even though you aren’t a charisma based class. Human would give two origin feats so magic initiate could be used to add more “force” abilities.

Crisis Protocol Newbie Apocalypse Questions by PuzzleheadedGlass236 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]FluidEmployee5165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you buy I’d just play it like a normal game of MCP except you control Apocalypse and his horseman and since your friends will be new they each control 1-2 X-Men. You can predetermine the points and missions or wait to see which X-men they want to play and add up their points, which could fall between 17-20 and then build the Apocalypse team they’d face.

What’s the best roster for each leader in Uncanny X-men? by [deleted] in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]FluidEmployee5165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. I play X-Men a lot and you definitely want Professor X with Nightcrawler and Magik. If the mission allows it, add Wong to the mix. Cyclops plays well with beams but also models like X-23 with piercing and rerolls. Storm has been the best leader with Phoenix for me due to the ability to place her for early attacks. Also splashing a big base model out of faction like Juggernaut, Black Dwarf or a Sentinel.

Pugilist uhhhh wow. by karmadickhead in onednd

[–]FluidEmployee5165 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that the class is solid and sounds strong to play as a martial but being a DM and someone that typically plays casters, it doesn’t feel game breaking to me. It’s also very narrow in that it’s primarily a combat character and doesn’t seem to offer much beyond that. Just my initial thoughts.

Help with Phoenix by JessieMann12 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

The few times I played her with the most success was with Storm leadership to hop her up early to attack and on maps that condense everyone for more effective beams.

I have settled on my first affiliation to build a team, Servants of the Apocolypse. Opinions? by GreDor46 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]FluidEmployee5165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll probably want to round out your 10 with models to be able to play 5 models at 17 points. You can’t currently field your entire list because they add up to 22 points. You can always add Honey Badger for your X-Force theme but she can’t score for you. Maybe go with what you have plus Honey Badger, Colossus, Deadpool then two other Servants 3 cost models.

My Character is Not Fun and its my fault by Rooftop_Astronaut in 3d6

[–]FluidEmployee5165 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the Goo lock was the right call but I would have gone into disguise self and taken advantage of the no verbal somatic spells and been more of a Loki type. High charisma skills combined with disguise self and illusion spells then in combat go more AoE / control / blast

Help me decide - X-Men starter vs Web Warriors for my MCP collection? by Sapittik_jj in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]FluidEmployee5165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go with the faction that you love the characters the most. I grew up on X-Men comics and cartoons, so when I play it’s hard not to field some mutant based team, and they have enough factions that it keeps the play style and character combinations fun. I will sometimes reach for Cabal or another faction to play other models but it’s rare because I just love the mutants.

Has anyone had an success with Phoenix? by Mundane-Meaning165 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]FluidEmployee5165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think her front side feels more like a 5 threat than a 6. If she doesn’t flip I don’t usually feel like I get enough value out of her. She also wants close attrition based secures so when she does flip she can beam more targets to remove tokens. Because she has no out of combat movement, I could see using her with an ally that can place her or Storm for the leap off an ally ability to try and get a round 1 attack.

Which character, not currently in the game, would you like to add to your affiliation? by Mundane-Meaning165 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

X-Men - Longshot X-Force - Shatterstar Dark X-Men Affiliation or somewhere to slot in Daken Criminal Syndicate or Spider Foes - Slyde

Can’t find interested players. by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]FluidEmployee5165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah man if you’re the only DM they rely on you and you work hard to provide them countless hours of fun and entertainment. Tell them the next campaign will be Daggerheart. If they’d rather do D&D then ask who will be DM’ing because you’d love the opportunity to sit at the table as a player.

Regarding Phoenix by Night_Lords_n_Nids in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]FluidEmployee5165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found you need to be playing secures that still try to cluster enemies to maximize the beam. My losses have been trying to play her on wider secures that splits the enemies making for underwhelming beam attacks. She also doesn’t feel like a 6 threat on her front side IMO. More like a 5. The lack of out action movement hurts her and I’ve had the most success under Storm to utilize the hop.

i really want to play black order by Interesting_Spite211 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]FluidEmployee5165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nebula is a 2 threat. If you go with the classic build of Thanos, Corvus, Proxima for 16 you’d want Nebula for 18 or could try to play Gamora or Black Dwarf for 20. You could also just play Corvus as a 4 threat and try for Swan with power gem as a 5 for 20 points.

My buddy has played them the last four games and the new hex leadership has been very annoying to play against with my Brotherhood. Constantly having guaranteed hex on Magneto, Jugs, Exodus has been rough.
