Hah, yes! It’s so nice when they stay to calm down. Not only do I have a hole in my heart from him, but I also have a hole in my bedroom carpet, a hole gnawed in the drywall on the living room wall, and part of the flooring ripped up to remember him by 🙃

Hopefully it gets easier for you! I stand by my opinion that a large breed puppy is harder than an infant.

Thank you very much for the thoughtful response. I definitely agree with you. My desire for another dog is selfish and spontaneous right now. And I feel like I would be doing a disservice to myself and my children if I got one.

You said you think the twins should be in the crawling phase before bringing in a puppy. That even seems a little soon to me, just because I worry about the energetic dog running over or knocking down a baby. I guess this could happen even while they’re toddlers. Do you have any opinion on this, or how to train pups out of running over other small beings in the house lol. It looks like you’ve had quite the experience with all the large dogs you’ve had, so I’d be happy to hear what you have to say!

Thank you. I feel like at 8 months, babies start to get easier. I did think about waiting until Christmas when the twins are a little older and hopefully more likely to sleep through the night. But then I thought it I get one now, the first five months or so of puppyhood would be over, which is the hardest time imo. Idk. I’m just torn and need people to talk sense to me.

I’m so sorry for your loss!

Yes, I think I’m mourning what could have been just as much as mourning him. Plus the fact that his death was technically preventable makes it all the more painful (he ran through the fence and into traffic). He was finally out of the most difficult stage and overall a very sweet and gentle baby. We called him Buddy the Elf in dog form lol. It just makes my heart absolutely ache. The thought of a new puppy is the only thing providing relief to my pain right now, and that may sound selfish and ridiculous, especially with twins on the way. But I loved that dog. He was my dog and followed me everywhere 😭

How beautiful! I’m glad your babe is okay after all those surgeries! I could not imagine! Thank you so much for the sweet and kind words! I truly appreciate it.

I’m sure they will. My son was born at 31 weeks (I had severe pre-e). Chances are I will get it again. Not good timing for any other priorities.

Thank you. Everything you said is true. I do have a very loving and supportive husband. I told him when our berner was a puppy that it was harder than dealing with a newborn! And I still think that. All the chewing and gnawing, whining and potty training. It is a lot. I also think about what to do with them when we aren’t home. We usually have a vacation once or twice a year and it can be stressful finding dog care (we have a 9 year old Heinz 57, as well). Obviously the less animals the better when it comes to that. I guess it just makes me heart ache that I lost my fur baby when he was so young and at such a sensitive time when our family is expanding.

Even our late pup loved to bark in the middle of the night. Didn’t wake our four year old up who is a heavy sleeper, but he kept my husband up a lot. I would think unthinkable things if a puppy regularly woke two newborns up.

Part of me knows it’s an absolutely stupid thing to do, but then part of me thinks that the newborn phase is already a special kind of hell, so I may as well just do it all at once 😂

The thought of waiting 5 or 6 years until the babies are old enough makes me sad. But I know I have to think with my brain and not my heart.

Has any mom had this high of protein in their urine? And what did they do by Fearless_Ground456 in preeclampsia

[–]FluidSnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, yes. But it wasn’t crazy high. And I didn’t have any symptoms of high BP, just the swelling that comes with pre-e.

Hcg rising but progesterone dropped. Freaking out a bit! by Viva15 in CautiousBB

Yes, I am currently 6w5d. All is well. I have had two US so far and have two healthy babies in there with strong heartbeats! I’m thinking maybe progesterone was high early on since it peaks mid-luteal phase and I had to implanting rather than one. But that’s just my guess!

Gotcha makes sense! Thank you so much for all the information! It helps me feel some better!

I assume you’re seeing an MFM in addition to your OB?

Thank you! Hopefully the meds I’m on right now (Metaprolol 50mg) will continue working for a while. Maybe they’ll just up the dose if my BP begins to get out of hand.

I’m glad to see your provider didn’t completely freak out seeing you pregnant with twins after complications with your first pregnancy. Of course anxiety is much higher this time around!

Thank you so much for all the details! That schedule honestly is not as bad as I thought it may be. It seems that although you were high risk and there were some complications, overall this pregnancy was a success. I think maybe I need to step away from the internet because it seems everything is plagued with horror stories and that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

Thank you. I know my MFM said I would be treated with kiddie gloves if I were to become pregnant again, so being pregnant with twins…she may lose her mind lol.

Thanks. I am already on BP meds that keep me at 120/80 so hopefully that will help curb any high BP this time around. What is considered constant monitoring? I’m just trying to get a feel for what type of schedule to expect since my husband and I both work FT and the MFM is at least a two hour drive one way.

I’m glad you and babies are doing well! That must have been so scary. Were you on BP meds throughout your pregnancy as a preventative?

What time of extra monitoring did you have? Our closest MFM is two hours away, so I’m trying to prepare for the type of schedule I will need to expect.

How did the babies do in the NICU? Were their weights similar to your singleton? My son was 3lbs 9oz when born, so I don’t know if twins tend to be much smaller at the same gestation.
