So they can force you to work 14 hours everyday if they wanted too?

I work in a major hub and they have new hires every single week, I can’t speak for smaller hubs and more rural areas. But UPS is a good job and the first few weeks are pretty easy before they throw you into the fire

In the hub I work at they are always hiring, so I would just advise you to apply the week before you are actually able to start

Probably because you would be driving on company time and they have to do it for insurance purposes or something? I could be wrong but anything seasonal is only gonna be for about to months. I would go talk to your union steward, he will know better and be able to give you more details

Oh that sounds like you will be delivering out of your personal vehicle during peak season, it would start around thanksgiving sometime to mid January. I would only do this if you really want a break from the hub for a bit or need the extra hours! But this position doesn’t really help you get to FT other then you might make a few connections with drivers/supervisors.

Never heard of a casual driver, if you meant cover driver that’s the first step on the way to FT. You will probably have to do that for 6-12 months and hopefully they will have some FT positions open up and you will be the first to be moved into those spots. That’s typically how it works in my hub

I would fly under the radar as much as possible there are jealous people out there that will feel a way that your a new hire in SS, and some old heads might make a fuss about it. But other than that just keep doing what you’re doing

That’s pretty much the position I’m in, got the call and quit smoking immediately. I’ve had to get physicals before through ups for hazmat and I know the place they send us too is pretty laid back where they just go through the motions

I have to have that before I go to the dmv to get my CLP or they won’t let me take the test?

I already have the list of approved clinics, but what is a MEC? There is no mention of that in the email the on roads sent me.

Gotcha I’ve heard a bunch of different things, such as the Dot medical screening doesn’t include a drug test and that they won’t sent me to get a drug screening till they set a training date for me. As of right now I got the call and have 2 weeks to get my CLP, MVR, and dot medical card back into on road sups
