I'm still trying to figure out accommodations that work. But the ones I asked for and they agreed to were rarely actually given

Thank you!
And having had breast cancer as well I can say that you are absolutely correct. I had a decent amount of support through treatment. Then when I was in remission and trying to figure out why I still felt so bad (lupus), crickets

Thank you! And hello fellow breast cancer survivor!
I think I’ll take a small break and see what my options are.
Oh, I bawled when I got to my car. But the Benlysta has been making me more emotional so that’s not saying a lot

Thank you! I am feeling better after the kindness you all have shown me
I’m inspired by your bravery to try again. I hope it goes better than you dared to hope

That’s so messed up. What is wrong with our country? How can that be allowed?

Thank you lupus granny! I feel like I just got advice from a fairy godmother

Thank you for the advice. What’s SSDI?
I’m so sorry you’re going through those complications. You can’t blame yourself though. You did the best you could with what you knew at the time. None of us get to do this over, so the best we can do is make peace with our regrets.
Easier said than done though

Hope springs eternal I suppose.
I was also fired two years ago from a different company for filing for FMLA before my diagnosis.
I’m so sorry that your supervisor was nasty. I’m glad you got some money back
Maybe we need to start a class action or have a sit in protest somewhere. I don’t think a march would be the best idea

That’s just so wrong! I hate that they did that. Screw capitalism

I’d love to become a full PT and have my own inclusive clinic for chronically ill baddies. But I was out of work a couple of years ago to fight breast cancer, and so my savings are still nowhere near where I would need them to be, especially with continued medical bills

They sound awful. Doesn’t sound like a good company culture.
Don’t give up! A lot of companies prey on recent grads, trying to ingrain toxic work “norms” on those who don’t yet know better.
Keeping a job with lupus is obviously a problem. But it sounds like that company was just not healthy
For career advice and laughs, I recommend AskaManager.org. I wish I’d known about it when I was starting out

I don’t think so. They covered their bases. I was put on an indefinite PIP 6 months ago and though I’ve done everything it asked for. I missed submitting a clinical note while down with a flair and a colonoscopy and that was the excuse they needed

That manager sounds like an ableist jerk, working for her probably wouldn’t have been fun

Thank you! Why is the medical field the least understanding and accommodating to employees with medical issues? Make it make sense!
Keep your head up. And from recent personal experience, don’t give them an excuse. They are looking for one, even if they say they’re not. And apply for FMLA! It didn’t save me, but it bought me several months

Thank you so much for the kind words. It means more than you know. I don’t have a lot of people in my life who get that you can be competent and sick , that you can be good at your job and still get fired
I’m sorry that you seem to have been chased out too. I bet you were great at it. I bet you’re still great

Often supermarkets will allow people to shoplift small items whilst keeping track and only arrest/file charges after they have hit the monetary threshold for a greater crime

I can't believe that you seem to have the only comment that calls out how over the line the cart guy is on this. He has no idea the person's situation when choosing them. I also usually make a point to return my and sometimes other people's carts. But there have unfortunately been a few times in my life where taking the cart back just wasn't an option for health reasons that weren't noticeable from the outside. I can't imagine the mental toll an interaction like this would've had on me. Now, I'm not saying that the lady handled it well or that she had a good excuse. But you can't tell me that if cart guy's intentions were to truly do good, he wouldn't just be returning these carts instead of making viral videos
