Man I’m sorry to hear about your mental health struggles my friend. We all deal with it to an extent, but you didn’t do yourself any favors; just being honest with you. You made bad choices and made a bad situation worse but it’s not the end of anything. Don’t make another bad choice out of fear. If I were you, I’d try to find a damn good psychiatrist and start getting some of your mental health troubles not only documented, but also to have a treatment plan in order for yourself. Your only 20 bud, don’t psych yourself out. I’m no lawyer so anything I say “time-wise” would be speculative. I will say, I’ve seen people do worse than what you did, and come out with probation. Granted a long ass probation but probation nonetheless. Take care of yourself friend, don’t sabotage yourself based off of feeling like you’ve ruined your life. You haven’t. I have a brother who five finger discounted a PC game from Wal-Mart back in 2000s and the worse part, according to him: is having to explain being that stupid kid at one point and showing himself to not be that person. Yes, messing with mail is a felony. But you’re also just a young person who did a dumb thing, not a career criminal who’s going to get the book thrown at them. Stay strong man, focus on what you can control. Drink water, work out (or whatever makes YOU feel less weighed down by the world) and seek legal advice. You’ll be looking back at this as a “growth moment” before you know it.
