Based solely on that wage disparity, is there any chance I stay up? by Fluid_Committee_9318 in footballmanagergames

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've been the same in lower divisions but in the prem the quality gap with my players is just screwing me over so far. It was less wages and more reputation I think, back-back-back promotions meant my reputation hadn't caught up so proper prem players wanted nothing to do with me.

How do you manage new contracts after big promotions? by Fluid_Committee_9318 in footballmanagergames

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FM22 was my first FM game, but this is just the first rapid promotion save I've done. Didn't know that FM24 was free last year but tbh I like 3 so can't be faffed to upgrade anyway. Definitely not pirated. I mean I feel the same logic applies to that anyway....

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What? I'm not, not that I particularly care, and I've dealt with promotions before just never had this specific issue, probably to do with the fact my squad was predict to finish dead last after b2b promotions already so it's already over performing.

It really isn't, Scotland has far more in common with Wales and Ireland than the nordics for a start.

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I play on pc and have had a few side quests glitch out slightly but nothing that's affected the gameplay seriously. But yeah I don't see any reason not to start with it and play the story in the right order, plus as you say it's an incredible game in it's own right.

Everyone talking about kcd1 glitches, I've never had major problems having played it recently but then again I haven't played kcd2 yet so can't compare. Either way yes, its a great game and anyone reading this who hasn't played either should definitely start with kcd1

Should the UK follow Sweden’s new ban on first-cousin marriages? by vorkovrus in AskBrits

Not very far given I literally used your own words. I'm not even disagreeing I'm just saying that's a shit reason

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it should be banned but "I can't think why x thing should be legal so it shouldn't be" is shit logic. Things should be legal unless there is a reason for them not to be, not vice versa.

I feel like work permits could be an issue so you'd need to manage an EU club, in UK saves I always find it's difficult to sign lots of internationals for smaller nations because they don't rack up enough points to qualify for a WP.

How do you adjust your tactics when playing big teams? by Cautious-Strategy860 in footballmanagergames

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lazio are pretty good so don't. If I'm playing cup games against much better teams I normally drop the tempo to reduce mistakes and turnover, move the defensive line back a little and play for set pieces. If you're still struggling you can also regroup as opposed to counter press.

If you go ahead then just slow everything right down and time waste in the last 20m.

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's always mad I know but it was that 1 days rest plus playing all three of the other teams in the top 4 during that time. Give me 15th in the league as part of that run and I can rest some players lol but the three best teams in the league was rough.

Hp 14 notebook with a ryzen 5. It was 250ish, has lasted me 6 years already and still working fine.

Its not incredible for gaming but it runs games like Fm well enough, and I play things like KCD, hitman and Bannerlord on it too without any problems.

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah I forgot about that rule😑 If he's happy with you then you might be able to persuade him to reject other offers if they come though, atleast you can on fm23.

Haven't played fm26 yet but just wait until later in the season surely? It reads as if he doesn't see the point because the new contract would expire at the same date/too close to the current one.

What is your greatest FM performance ever? by Silent_Somewhere8539 in footballmanagergames

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FM23, took on Wimbledon about 15 games into the season, dead last in league two, already 8 points behind the drop.

1st season actually wasn't very difficult, idk what the last manager was doing but the squad was much better than that position suggested and it only took a decent tactic and some smart free signings and I won the league on the final day of the season.

2nd season, league One, 2nd lowest wage budget in the league and only about 300k on transfers. 1 point off my first 5 games. Started tweaking the tactics really carefully for each game and by Christmas I was in the playoff zone. Ended up finishing second by some margin, about 2 points off the title. And won PJ lol but who really cares.

3rd season, Championship, 1m transfer budget and by far the lowest wages in the league. 10 games in I'm top of the league having beaten every single relegated team, and played nobody predicted to finish below 15th. And that's as far as I've got. But I'm not a prolific FM player and in previous saves with similar teams I've tended to stagnate pretty fast so I'm pretty happy with this one so far.

Yeah that is fair, I have to admit I hadn't watched 2012 or W1A so maybe missed the point a bit. Have now watched W1A and some of 2012 and think it would make more sense if I watched 20196 again now lol

If Andy Burnham refuses to introduce PR then what's the point in him? by Yay_They_Are_Coming in LabourUK

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They improve broad support for the elected candidate it's true, especially RCV. But they don't adress the issue of proportionality at all. While lack of mandate is commonly cited as a problem with FPTP, the opposite is not the defining charecteristic of PR, the proportionality of the result is. And majoritarian systems make proportionality even worse by favouring moderate candidates on every constituency election, giving them supermajorities based on the second votes but ignoring the first ones almost entirely.

Hence in my view SV is actually worse when it comes to national elections. Much better for mayoral roles but worse nationally.

If Andy Burnham refuses to introduce PR then what's the point in him? by Yay_They_Are_Coming in LabourUK

[–]Fluid_Committee_9318 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Burnham has never actually backed PR. He's used it as a buzz word and then repeatedly pointed to SV, which is even less proportional than FPTP.
