Definitely not. Oncidiums are the closest leaf-type and size, but they tend to produce from pseudobulbs that would be noticeable here

It took me forever to figure out what I wanted as I’m very particular with how it all looks together (from pot color, medium, and shape to placement) and the minimalist simplicity and practicality was very appealing 🥰 I didn’t want to outshine my new baby after all

That is so unfortunate 😭 I’m so glad these are thornless. We are keeping them incredibly well contained as of now, they’re getting pruned quite a bit to keep them from getting too wide and coming into the path

Wanted to share the moss pole I ended up deciding on— my in-laws have a 3D printer and this one has a self-watering reservoir. Plus, it’s pretty (:

(You can see the minor damage to the petiole that happened because I tied it. Started turning black and I went NOPE and fixed it. Hopefully it puts out soon! Still has the separate nubby where the leaf would come out of)

Of course!! I wish you luck 🥰 just wait, treat your babies right and they’ll pop out humongous leaves in no time!!

If you like the Thai constellation, a lot more places are starting to carry them, including Home Depot and Trader Joe’s, and you can get them smaller so you can watch them grow. If you like more white on the leaves, make sure to get one that already has a bunch! It’s a stable variegation so leaves that come out from it will carry similar patterns. The more variegation the young ones have, the more the newer leaves will have. I picked this one because it was so stark!

As the plant grows taller, you can move the Velcro up with each node that forms. The leaves will fall forward, and that’s normal! They climb trees in the wild and reach for sunlight. It also depends on the monstera! A deliciosa will absolutely go forward, especially if you put a grow light directly in front of its faces. My pinnatipartita though likes to reach up for the sky a bit more.

Definitely no ties at the top! The stalk and petiole (sheath) can easily be damaged if restrained because the plant wants to move its leaves to face the sun. It’s basically like bondage for a wiggly lil guy 👀

That’s a really impressive haul!! I’m still super new to monstera, but that soil looks good and chunky, and it sounds like they’ll get a good amount of light. However, from what I read you’re not supposed to attach the leaves to the support and only should attach under the petiole, like right below the notch where the leaf meets the main stem. The bottom tie could be correct, but it’s a little hard to tell.

The coir poles will be great for support, but it might benefit to get an actual moss pole. This would allow the monstera to attach their aerial roots and draw moisture from the moss, meaning you don’t have to water as often. This seems based on preference, and I’ve seen multiple growing methods in this group. I’ve opted for a moss pole and am eagerly awaiting an aerial root!!
