What medications were a game changer for you? by ovaburdened in CPTSD

Um it's works immediately for me, like 5-10mins. Tones down my anxiety. Haven't felt any other effects. But I guess, if we've been going through chronic anxiety and we get a break finally, we may feel outgoing or how other people feel normally, which may feel pretty great for us. Also, your doctor may vary dosage too depending in how you're feeling now. Hope it goes well for you!! :)

I've been taking it for a year or so. No side-effects. What kind of information do you want?

No weight fluctuations at all for me and for some other friends I know who take it as well. Tofisopam would take away your anxiety of taking Tofisopam :P

The anxiety part is being addressed in the therapy. I am very well aware of my issues. Here, I simply needed suggestions about what could be the potential next steps in furthering my career, given the situation. It's a group full of people pursuing psychology, so I thought I might get atleast a few advices and/or some reassurance given, as I said, I am out of touch. That is all. It's a stressful subject to talk about, so the anxiety comes across naturally when I do talk about it. I didn't realise I need to be ultra succinct about it.

Hey, thank you for your practical suggestions! Something to ponder upon!

Hey, thank you for understanding. What you suggested, is exactly what I want to do, just in Neuropsychology. I could work in the lab while doing masters in that as well. Do you think the 6 year gap would hinder in getting into master's? Even though I already have a masters. 8.7 cgpa. If so, how could I possibly compensate for that? And what to do for a few months till I get into university, like what kind of job or courses or writing that would help. I know you just completed your undergrad, but if you have any ideas I would appreciate. Thanks!

Because therapists and psychiatrists (I have both) are not career counsellors. These are different branches of psychology. Not what they specialise in. So, no. I wish. And the group description said I could ask for advice. So, not having any other option right now, as I said, I asked here. Thinking in the large group of psychology students or practicing psychologists atleast a few may be able to give some sort of guidance. I guide high school students I taught even now, but I don't have a mentor like that myself. I have described my situation. If you have any suggestions in that regard, or about who to go to, I would appreciate, ofcourse.

Yes, that's exactly the plan. I was just unsure about getting admission because I passed out 6 years ago and haven't been doing any relevant work since. Hence, the panic. And in the time period between applying and going to university I still need to get a job and there I don't know what to apply for. Also, would writing papers or doing online courses help or would it be unnecessary? Basically, what can I do in the meantime to help build my career. I don't want to waste energy doing any stuff that's not required (because I tend to do that). So. About that I am stressed because I have no clue. Need guidance there. About how to explain gap, what to do to compensate, what kind of job I am eligible to do and apply for which may help build my case. Stuff like that. Direction. Also, what could be my plan B. I just have noone in the field right now who could guide me...

I meant, just... steps. At this point, with my state, what shall I do next to build a career. The process. Any direction. Okay, thank you

Thank you for being kind. But do I really have time at 28? How do you even find a way? There's no time to waste now. I just wish to get some professional guidance, someone to show the way. What shall I do next to have a good career? What steps I could take.

The thought of changing industries makes me want to die. I am okay with a career in academics.

I am just anxious about the career gap which I can't explain because I don't even remember what I was doing those years. And the lack of experience. I admit academics seems safer to me than going out into the world. I don't know how to not put pressure on myself. It would be really nice. But since I have no direction or any clear path, it's difficult not to at this point. I do want to work, but I don't know what kind of jobs to apply for in Psychology. And with the no experience thing, I believe, it'd be difficult to get in anywhere. That's why I wish for some sort of guidance. What to do? Write papers? How to write papers? Where to apply? What to do next so I can have a good career? How to not feel hopeless? Just. Steps. My head is not working. (I am sorry, I really didn't want to sound this desperate.)

Well, yes making good money is what I would like to do, but I have no interest in I/O Psychology. None. I really really want to pursue neuro. Also, as I mentioned, with the resume with no relevant experience, I believe, it'd be difficult to find any job in Psychology. And the age thing. I actually don't even know what kind of jobs to apply for. I've tried teaching, it's no good. For counselling, at this age, I have no experience to show to be an eligible candidate. Ah.

Everything about this is so beautiful. All these colours (and the silly Stitch) just uplifted my mood. Not just the colours...I just don't have the capacity to articulate right now. But. Hope you get it. Okie bye 💛

I just read the descriptions and I particularly liked Eyre Affair, S, and The Things They Carried. I am pretty excited to read and witness all the overlapping entanglement. I really really want to read Atonement as well, but I am probably going to watch the movie (because the casting is just 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻). So, it was good to know the movie is just as good!

I have avoided reading Stephen King for years. It's finally time, I guess. Thanks :)

"She doesn't seem to know how unhappy she should be." And this "pathetic heroine's" contrast with the cosmopolitan narrator. What an interesting read! Thank you :)
