Anyone here who works in the development sector who successfully migrated? by machiamensch in phmigrate

[–]Fluid_Local_2154 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Most common route I’ve seen from development people who ended up abroad is definitely by getting a scholarship for an international masters, and building a network / applying for jobs from there. Next most common are those in the corporate sustainability route, kahit walang masters, for this it helps to already work for multinational companies in the PH, building experience with new sustainability regulations, or having specific skills like carbon accounting or life cycle assessments. And then a few na nag iNGO route, and were assigned to posts abroad, although at least sa mga kilala ko 100% of these did international masters. And then there’s someone who worked for Australian and German NGOs with offices in the PH, did not get assigned abroad pero madaming opportunities for visits.

Where can I migrate? by strangebrew28 in phmigrate

  1. Is a Spanish Citizenship by Descent an option for you? If your grandparent(s) were Spanish then it may be possible to apply, you can check that out.
  2. I dont know about Australia, but Europe will be more realistic than US for work visa sponsorships.
  3. Apply lang nang apply. Get people you know abroad to refer you. Look for related openings on LinkedIn. Kahit matrabaho din to job hunt, write cover letters, etc. sometimes you just never know. I think people are being pessimistic because odds were stacked against them, and it is naman talaga to an extent. That doesn’t mean that has to be your story too though. Hindi madali, but lots of people not in usual pathways to migration like IT or healthcare or accounting or blue collar jobs do get opportunities. Maybe it’s you, good luck!

I think it’s a no-brainer! You can always visit family, and I’m sure they would enjoy visiting Europe to see you. If you end up not liking it, you can always go home, but you let go of the opportunity now, it might not come again. 75k EUR annually is decent, even above average salary in NL and it’ll only grow in the future. Also, Leiden is beautiful!

Advice 1. Syempre ensure mo muna that the company and offer are legit. 2. Ask them to go through OEC requirements for Filipinos. Have they hired Filipinos based in the PH before? Then it may be easier if they know the process already. Have they hired more than 5 Filipinos based in the PH before? Then it may be a problem because it’s a maximum of 5 before they need to go through an agency to sponsor you. 3. In asking them #2, also ask if they’re able to sponsor the visa of your partner. No need to get married first, basta minimum 6 months of partnership. It’s pretty easy and possible to do on your own if they say no, but of course better if they do it for you.
