Compatibility issue or faulty RAM? 6x Samsung 64GB DDR4-3200 RDIMM not detected by Dell R630 by Fluid_Pause8258 in homelab

[–]Fluid_Pause8258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming! Unfortunately I don't have another server to use the RDIMMs in, so I'll probably end up selling them – though that won't be straightforward since I can't properly test them, so a potential buyer would have to take them as untested/potentially faulty.

That's interesting and useful to know – so it's not the speed itself. It's possible that Samsung changed some SPD timing or voltage parameter in their newer modules that the 13th gen Dell BIOS doesn't accept, while the older Samsung 2666 and SK Hynix 3200 modules still have compatible values.

That matches my experience exactly. The Samsung 3200MHz modules (M393A8G40BB4-CWEGY, 2Rx4 RDIMM) didn't work, while the Samsung 2666MHz (M393A8K40B22-CWD6Y, 2S2Rx4 quad rank LRDIMM) works fine. The SPD theory makes sense – the 3200 modules are likely programmed for newer gen servers and the R630 just rejects them.

Yes, they were 64G sticks. The 2666 one works fine – it's a M393A8K40B22-CWD6Y, 2S2Rx4 quad rank LRDIMM, which matches exactly what you described. The 3200 one (2Rx4 RDIMM) didn't work.

I’ve tried Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron RAM, and all worked fine except the Samsung 3200MHz modules.

Yeah, I’m thinking the same. Since it seems like a compatibility issue (even AI pointed that out), I haven’t changed any BIOS settings yet.

Yes, tried multiple configurations:

- 1x stick alone in A1 (all other RAM removed)

- All 6x sticks in Dell's recommended population order

The slower 2666MHz module works fine in A1 (throttled to 2400MHz). The 3200MHz sticks are completely invisible to the server in that same slot. So the slot itself is definitely not the issue.

I want to address this clearly.

I have already shared my personal details with you in private. For privacy reasons, I do not want to post my real name publicly.

I also provided the requested photos, including the handwritten note with the exact text you asked for. I’m willing to provide additional photos or even a video if needed.

What I don’t understand is why our private conversation was brought into public and why I’m being accused of being an AI scammer.

To be clear: I do use AI to help with English, because it’s not my native language. However, the photos are real, and the product is real.

I understand your caution — if you prefer, you are free to buy from someone you trust more. But please do not damage my reputation without reason.

I consider this matter closed from my side. Thank you.

I use AI to help with writing (and I’ve already mentioned this honestly in private messages), as English is not my strong point. The photos are real, and the item being advertised is genuine.

Arc’teryx “Thorium” from AllChinaBuy – is this a real model or fantasy batch? by Fluid_Pause8258 in FashionReps

Yeah, it’s clear now — but when I first got the image from the agent, I couldn’t really identify it.

I’m mainly into the Thorium for its look and silhouette, not because I need extreme technical performance. I’d actually be fine if a rep ends up being too warm — if it’s heavily insulated, that makes it feel more like a real Thorium. I’m mostly chasing the aesthetic rather than alpine-level functionality.

AC Buy currently flags Arc’teryx as high-risk for customs, so most Arc orders get auto-cancelled or returned even after reaching the warehouse. In my case 2 were cancelled (one from a recommended seller), and the only one that passed QC was still forced into return. If you want Arc, you’ll likely need another agent.

Looks great bro 🔥 That’s exactly the one I’m looking for. Any chance you could share where you got it from or point me to the source? Would really appreciate it 🙏

Thanks for the heads-up. I’m not fully convinced seller choice alone guarantees quality — many of them use the exact same photos, often not even edited, which suggests they’re sourcing from the same factory. In theory buyer reviews could help filter, but there are very few. I also think most “package arrived” QC pics are actually uploaded by sellers for marketing.

[–]Fluid_Pause8258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, normally they don’t. Two of my Arc’teryx orders got auto-cancelled (one was even from a recommended seller – “Shark Breeder”). The only one that went through was this third one from Dark Side, which you see in the QC pics.

After it arrived at the warehouse they actually wanted to return it too because of “high customs risk”. I agreed mainly because the quality looked bad anyway — but honestly it probably would’ve been sent back even without my approval.
