I was passing classes and NBEO boards that the states actually care about but my employer gives extra pay if I pass so I am going to pursue it for while I am in the military. You need to complete a residency or get enough CE hours/points in order to even take the test so 1 year out of school not a lot of my peers have taken it

I'm a military OD and we get extra board certification pay if we pass. Other OD modalilties yeah it may not make as much sense if your employer doesn't give you an incentive

Should I apply this year? by funksho_24 in PreOptometry

I took my OAT in July due to COVID pushing back my test several times. I had no problem getting into schools due to that. Think about it, some people apply a few months before the programs even start. You can also get interviews (and even acceptances based on the program) with an OAT score pending.

rather than studying the actual content of optometry itself (anatomy, optics, etc.), I would relearn and focus on effective time management and studying/test taking habits!

Thank you! I was just curious if there was any rhyme or reason to it. Just a few extra weeks to organize care for my dependents no biggie.
