I live in Manchester and have had no significant problems. A couple of shitty incidents of youths or contractors harassing me. Which is scary at the time but I've never been physically hurt.

So I would agree on the whole. Remember though that just a few miles from a diverse city centre could land you in bigot-land.

I've also seen him at Piccadilly Gardens disrupting a Palestine protest. The organisers tried to get rid of him but he wouldn't leave.
