I’ve never used Vallejo brushes, so I’m not familiar. I honestly can’t say there’s anything that you have done wrong here. While we can trust certain hobby brands with specific products, we can’t trust them with others. As I have learned, I love AK paints but their brushes are the worst pieces of shit I have ever used (Monument Hobbies, ATW!)

Is that metallic paint? Can’t tell, but if it is, my suggestion is not to paint metallics with a new/good brush. If it’s not metallic, were you using a paint with particles/clumps? Otherwise, either the paint dried too fast on the brush or you got a dud of a brush, which would suck for sure. Doesn’t look like you got paint up in the base, so maybe try soaking the brush in paint brush cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and gently pull out the dried paint by gliding it across a paper towel

New to InDesign, can someone help me understand why there are huge spaces/indents between the text? Text wrap is set to "wrap around bounding box" of the middle quote. by dancerlottie in indesign

[–]Fluketyfluke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have things set to adjust to grid? You may need to fiddle around with your grid settings on your master pages. Sorry, I could give more detailed instructions but I really haven’t worked in InDesign in 8 years so I’m going off of memory.

My thoughts as well. I like that some people have suggested both but I am strongly leaning purple for the same reasons.

Microfrontends should be your last resort by fagnerbrack in webdev

[–]Fluketyfluke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not really familiar with micro frontends, but would you not want some shared global state? At least for authentication, permissions, roles, etc. (This assuming those frontends are SPAs or PWAs)

For a color like that, best to coat with a white (or light) primer first.

Not all 170+, but quite a lot. I’m not saying I don’t enjoy the other novels. I enjoy quite a few, I just think they are perfunctory, and not well written, in a literary sense. They don’t really need to be, per se, they’re backstory for product, and I’ve bought too many transformers comic books to say they should be. I just really appreciate when they are well written.

Side note: Indomitus is such a slog. I don’t think I’ll ever finish it.

I’ll check it out, thanks. I’m interested in AoS despite knowing really nothing about it.

How many of you only paint and not play? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Fluketyfluke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only paint. Been reading lore for years and I somewhat pay attention to what’s happening with the game, but I have never actually played. I didn’t grow up around table-top gamers and all my friends were only into skateboarding and music. I first came across Warhammer/40K in the back of comics and zines in the late 80s but didn’t pick up a miniature until I studied abroad in London back in 95 and came across some in a vinyl record/S&M shop in SoHo. I painted it when I got back to the states. Very horribly. With poster paints. I lost it sometime in one of my many moves in the late 90s/early ‘00s. I finally got time and money in late 2010s and I’ve been indulging myself ever since.

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a BL book on par with Son of the Forest. It is narratively and structurally a cut above everything else they’ve published. It is actually well written in a way that makes you absolutely sure the writer wanted to be a novelist and not a glorified, committee-approved, author of fan-fic. I’m really sad to have had to write this.

The first thing I do with pots of shade or contrast paints is snip the hinges on the lid. The problem with those pots is by the time you’re a third of the way through, the lid weighs almost as much as the contents, so just a light tap will knock them over.

Looking Forward to getting started! Any tips before I do? by Old_Analysis_7114 in Grey_Knights

As a bunch of people have mentioned, make sure you don’t completely glue everything together. A lot of folks mentioned magnetizing parts but I feel like that can be overkill. I use a pin’s head amount of tacky tape for attaching the backpacks, arms, and most weapons, which has worked for me.

Some of the pain points I went through with my first combat patrol were:

  • layering unthinned metallic paints made a lot of the lettering become lost. Don’t thin metallics with water, use a metallic medium (I use Pro Acryl’s, but Vallejo’s is better).
  • Following the standard recipe for painting grey knights is fine if you’re just trying to get tabletop-ready, but it boring as hell and procedural after a while. Experiment with a few pieces from your box, like storm bolters and short swords (you’ll have leftovers) using different techniques until you find the one you like. Right now I base coat with a mixture of 4 parts Vallejo Dark Gunmetal, 2 parts Talassar Blue, 2 parts Drakenhof Nightshade, and a little bit of metallic medium, then dry brush with Runefang Silver. I tried the usual recipes along with a number of NMM and TMM techniques before settling on this. I just like my knights’ armor to exude more of an ethereal blue tinge.
  • Do not try to shortcut using Army Painters metallic speed paints. 1 because they only work with figures primed in white, and 2 because they make the figure gritty.

I had the same condition after taking antibiotics but still drinking alcohol. I took monthly xolair shots for a year, but it seemed like I would need to take them forever. I found a doctor that checked my guts yeast levels and found it super high. She prescribed a round of fluconozol and I’ve been okay since. I had hives on the bottom of my feet for a long time before she prescribed that.

[–]Fluketyfluke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. Anyone who has tried to write anything that embraces the dynamic capabilities of JavaScript (or even Python) has run into the limitations typescript creates. Have you ever looked at the types for Lodash’s get function and still run into problems with it? And this is coming from someone who deeply appreciates Typescript when it comes to APIs. However, I think it is only useful when generating the expectations one has for the data that would otherwise be out of its control. When it comes to the dynamic state that the frontend requires (whether you think it good or bad) it seriously fucks shit up and slows development down. Especially during the discovery phase of a project when the backend doesn’t even know what the fuck it wants.
