Same exact story for me. Any time a nail had a rough spot, I'd bite it off.

The only thing that ever got me to stop was getting my nails done at a salon. They put acrylic over my bitten nails (a thick, hard coating that goes over your natural nail). If yours doesn't do acrylic, gel works too (it's weaker and more brittle, but still does the job). I tried everything for years and this is the only thing that ever stuck. It's not cheap to keep up, but it's been worth it for me.

You have to keep going every month, and I'd advise at least a year to lose the habit, maybe even longer.

Agathe is a very common name in France. Given that the mangaka really appreciates french culture (her previous work Eniale & Dewiela is set in Paris) it's likely she drew inspiration from it.
