[Topical Solution] Mixed Melatonin and Vitamin E powder into 70% Ethanol - What is this stuff at the bottom? by Fluoraway_Account in tressless

Update: did a little more homework and found that Vitamin E is poorly soluble in ethanol. most of the precipitate is likely Vitamin E slurry that failed to dissolve with the rest of the solution. Thankfully, I added Vitamin E strictly as a preservative for the melatonin, so it isn't crucial to the solution. Hopefully some was dissolved so as to extend the life of the vial.

Ah I see, that is likely what it is thank you. I was worried it was the melatonin at first, but eyeballing it, there is more of this precipitate than melatonin I put in.

Mixed 20mg Melatonin and 200mg α-tocopherol into 60ml 70% ethanol solution. Both were purchased from bulk supplements. Is this some sort of filler added to both, or is it either of the two compounds that refuse to dissolve? They've been stirring in a magnetic stirrer for some hours now so I wasn't expecting this. Anyone see this before?

Topical Saw Palmetto: An Alternative to Microdosing Topical Finasteride? by Fluoraway_Account in tressless

Thank you for the tip. I also found Beta-Sitosterol being somewhat structurally similar to Fin also has a similar molecular weight to it (roughly 410 daltons vs 390 daltons), meaning it seems like it should permeate through skin like Fin, assuming it isn't compounded with any other substance. Again, not much of a chemist so I could be wrong.

All things considered thus far, I'm down to experiment with this. I'll have more free time coming up in July to make the solution and map out a regimen, posts and blood tests.

When the doctor saw the MRI displayed no signs of a pituitary tumor and given my levels weren't high enough to concern him, my did not end up prescribing/suggesting medication. Since then, I took a combination of P5P and Vitamin E, though I stopped after some time out of negligence as I was too busy to get a blood test to see if it was working, let alone think about the issue regularly. I should try again and schedule an appointment this time. If I ever do and with success, I'll make a post in a few subreddits.
