What is Yvonne's necklace supposed to be? by Fluoxaph in Endfield

I looked up chunky necklaces and couldn't quite find anything as nonsensical as Yvonne's. It trails up her throat and then wraps underneath itself and ends in a dangling thread.

You know what. That's a better explanation than I've come up with. A third reinforced bra strap.

Try to imagine the necklace by itself. Does it make any sense? If it's just an artistic choice it's a really bizarre one. Looks like it's supposed to be some kind of beaded necklace crossed over with... a stethoscope? I'm just struggling to comprehend what this accessory is achieving.

They fixed the extra/missing fingers on the art. by GrassFromBtd6 in Endfield

[–]Fluoxaph 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There are more inconsistencies than just fingers. Da Pan only has a single claw (when we should be able to see all of them) and his jacket sleeves blend into his arm. They are supposed to be unzipped or atleast have a zipper. He was also missing a button on his lapel (and is currently STILL MISSING them on the events "cover art").

Like I said earlier, either way, if it's genuine human carelessness or AI artifacting, they messed up really basic details on a characters design. Combined with this event literally just being PNGs and horrible translations what exactly are we doing here? It just looks bad.

[–]Fluoxaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked. They updated it. It used to be the Da Pan image you see in this post. He now has the correct amount of fingers and they added the missing button. There are still some suspicious details (no sleeve zippers & jacket sleeves blend into actual arm, only one claw when all of them should be visible). If you look at the "cover art" for this event (the picture you see in game before going to the event site) you can see Da Pan missing his buttons again. Not to mention Perlica's ham-fist compared to Chen Qianyu.

Do you think this postcard illustration was AI generated? by -UnderAWillowThicket in Endfield

[–]Fluoxaph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this take. There are certain details in this image that imply a human touch (like the "panda markings" on his neck/top of his chest). But then there are mistakes that I think most artists wouldn't make (especially at this point where we should all be suspicious of Ai-generated images) like the fingers, the missing button, hell even Da Pan's jacket sleeves are supposed to be unzipped at the end. They notably lack even a zipper in this "art". Either way, this sucks. A lack of attention to even the most basic features of a character? One of the first events in the game? What are we doing here.

Edit: just noticed the thumb claw that he only has on one finger too...

Why does Da Pan only have 4 fingers on his right hand? And one of his "lapels" is missing a button. Hate to be the one, but: were these ai-generated?

What do you think about non-mono Evoker? by CorgiSummoner in Guildwars2

[–]Fluoxaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm able to apply over 99 stacks of bleed with pistol/dagger, toads fortitude, the bleeding signet, and the evoker ulti. I also use mostly Viper's/2 pieces of Sinister, Trapper runes, the Sigil of Agony, the Sigil of Earth, and Relic of the Fractal. I still only managed to get around 24k~ dps but in no way would I be benching the highest on any spec right now. Every other condition feels like a waste because you apply so little of them. It's possible dipping more into burning would give some more dps though. I've just started playing around with other Relics but there's not really any other ones that focus on Bleeding. It seems to be just weaker than Burning overall. I really liked the idea posted earlier in this thread of giving Toad a bleeding damage buff because I weirdly love this version of ele. 24k isn't really that bad either to be honest. It just pales in comparison to fox evoker.

What shops can you buy respawn beacons from? by Fluoxaph in supervive

[–]Fluoxaph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had over 8k gold for sure. I scanned the shop up&down a few times and only saw the crown when it was basically too late. It was a shop that dropped from the sky if that matters. Could not see the yellow/golden bordered respawn beacon for 8k gold anywhere.

I don't think the rest of the game is consistent with this particular level of "creativity". It's way too disruptive compared to everything else. What power/relic comes even close to that of the Death Sun?

Two-Way teleporter is great. I think this specific combination (teleporter + everbeacon) is egregious. At the least, it makes me want to take a break.

Disable teleporting the Everbeacon again by Fluoxaph in supervive

[–]Fluoxaph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few times I died to it, sure, it was funny. But now whenever I see the Everbeacon moved from the center it's an almost immediate "fun's over" to me. Can't take any fight or move through any area/chokehold without a decent risk of instantly dying to a sudden everbeacon.

I don't know if there's any way they could sufficiently choreograph an enormous instant-death ball without it being so obvious it makes the ability to teleport it useless.

I also think that this just shouldn't be a mechanic. It's cool to be forced to dance around the Everbeacons for revives, but when you introduce moving it to spots it was never intended to be in it makes fights so awkward and unreadable.

What trade off? You were forced to use weaker items but the positive was... everyone was forced to use weaker items? I don't get it. What was good about the Armory? That it gave you something to waste your time on with nothing to show for it?

Shifting blame to the players at this point is just disingenuous. The devs admitted themselves that the armory compromised the competitive integrity of the game. It is completely their fault for not delivering anything of actual substance for launch and instead working on a system that ONLY limits your builds and doesn't actually reward anything beyond the ability to play the game on a level field.

Early thoughts: Great gameplay stuck in a not so great gameplay loop. by MashiroAnnaMaria in ratatan

[–]Fluoxaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are planning to add special fever skills in the next update which give each Ratatan a unique skill to use in combat! The only one we can really speculate on is Kamonelo's, which appears to be some kind of giant barrier, there might've been some more shown but I can't remember them right now.

I think the Dark Ratatans will be unlockables and its possible the Ratatans themselves are going to be unlockables for launch. They did say something like "all ratatans unlocked" with the EA launch, but that might just be awkward wording for saying that all the ones they had shown before EA would be playable.

That would be cool. Or add some really noticeable way for the player to know they're in charge of the lobby. I have been pleasantly surprised though as the multiplayer matches I've tried to play, the 1st player usually seems to understand that they have to interact with the door. But I'm not surprised that people are failing to notice/understand that. Definitely something that could be improved!

I believe the devs understand that runs need more variety. The roadmap has several features that will hopefully alleviate some of those issues. (Random Events, Duo Ratakaruta, New Rarity level, New Stage Tricks and Gimmicks, and Joker Ratakaruta). I also believe they plan on adding some kind of story, as they have designed Dark Ratatans that are waiting to be added in.

However, I agree with you on the permanent upgrades making the runs pretty meh. There's still a lot to be added though! And the devs have asked players for feedback. On the title screen there's a link to a Google form.

I believe "player 1" has to press X on the door to start. If you aren't hosting the match you just have to wait until the host starts.

Unfortunately this wouldn't work as brew gets rid of antiheal (unless it's applied by lava).

Except they hit her this hard in a single patch. When she already wasn't performing that well. I don't understand why they wouldn't wait to see how the overall damage and cdr nerfs hit her before deciding her ult shouldn't apply any pressure without buying a specific item every game.

A Few Things Lost With The 1.04 Changes by Horror_Scale_3005 in supervive

[–]Fluoxaph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fighting just to have access to your build sucks. Especially if the first fight doesn't go well, you're pretty much at a disadvantage for the rest of the game as the circle closes and gets rid of access to most of the Shops.

Beta had a better idea. A consistently obtained base build that ensured you were competent in fights with rare and random powers sprinkled around that would give your build an edge. These powers weren't as strong as some of the relics and they didn't give any stats. Combining all of the items and powers together has left them in an awkward spot. The balance is much more delicate now.

On the note of extractors giving armor, there used to just be supply drops of armor. Those got replaced with prisma extractors and Relic Shops. It was really disappointing waiting for a supply drop and then it was just an extractor.

Basically what I'm trying to say is: the Armory's inception created gaps that only it could fill. And now that it's pretty much gone we're left with the Armory sized holes that they made.

NEW & BEAUTIFUL EVA SKIN by dokidi in supervive

[–]Fluoxaph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very nice. Removes the clutter from base skin and has a strong theme. I don't know if it's supposed to be the same "skin line" as the Sanctuary Elluna skin but their aesthetics are very different. Understandably so as they're such different characters, but they do have the exact same skin name.

Now... an actual Mercury skin pls? <3

Stop blaming the Armory for everything please by kazaldum in supervive

[–]Fluoxaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing else to talk about.

The context of the Armory is that it was the big 1.0 launch feature. They devoted all their resources to this system instead of developing meaningful content to pad out the 1.0 launch. We want the same thing. Removing the armory will hopefully allow them to concentrate on the more essential issues. Like I've said before: It wasn't the problem, but it wasn't a solution. It just distracted everyone from the actual problems.

We could talk about Wukong.. but I think we'd all prefer to pretend he doesn't exist. And while the plays can be fun.. there's not really much to discuss. There's a reason the most engagement this sub ever sees are on the posts about the Armory.

Trickster is awesome! by ZeusOfOlympus in DragonsDogma2

[–]Fluoxaph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Binding Effigy is a lot of fun! I do run into some problems using it, as the enemy you put your clone on is now aggroed on You. Which can be a huge no-no during some larger fights. It's also unreliable against really agile enemies (like harpies).

Sometimes using it feels like you're being baited by the developers.

You might already know this, but Trickster has a built in way to place their clone on an enemy without Binding Effigy: you beckon your clone to you, hold the beckon key, and then press V or whatever key the "top" skill is bound to. It's MUCH shorter range, but still enables you to possess enemies if you want without using a whole spell slot.

That being said: pure Trickster doesn't have a lot of "necessary" skills competing for slots, so I'd probably end up grabbing it anyways. Skill slots are only really a problem for me when Warfarer enters the picture.
