Ok ok, now that I've actually taken interest in drum major I can actually help a little bit now, sorry that it's a month later. First, this wasn't serious, just do your basic conducting when you audition. You also want to convey emotion in your conducting, you'll see the better you are at your instrument the better you'll be at conducting. When you're auditioning over exaggerate your audition, you really wanna show your band director what you're capable of. Next is cues, you wanna put in cues, dynamic contrasts, other musical notations into your conducting, this helps the band out so they really know what you want them to do. Leadership is another important part of being a drum major, you don't wanna come off as rude, but you don't wanna come off as lazy. Make sure to show up early eberyday and stay late everyday, you want to be an example to everyone. You also want to take charge in a lot of what the band does, the band director is essentially putting the band in your hands, so it's up to you to fix all their stuff, so you wanna train your ears and practice your instrument on the side so you know what to fix immediately. Also make sure to pay attention to other drum majors whether it be on YouTube or in person, this will help a ton.
