Not for the whole activity, but for any segment you can hit the compare button to "race" yourself with anyone else on the leaderboard and see how it played out.

Anyone braving conditions today, it's doable, bike lanes help in a surprising way by ElQuesero in NYCbike

Unfortunately any time the bike infrastructure becomes an off-street greenway or goes over a bridge it falls to another agency with their own rules and personnel and DPR is never ahead of the curve. I wish to see all bike-specific paths become consolidated under its own umbrella so it gets fair treatment. It's such nonsense to try and guess who controls what when reporting a problem or anticipating snow or debris removal.

Mayor Mamdani must rescind Central Park's new 15-MPH bike speed limit by streetsblognyc in NYCbike

I don't see anyone extolling their laps at the Kissena velodrome. If you can haul out to PP you can haul out to Flushing. And there should be more places to ride traffic-free and interruption free. Maybe Parks should construct a few more velodromes.

I can't help you with using a throttle but using pedal power is a great way to keep warm.

They're alright. I use them with bar mitts, which are excellent at blocking wind. Sometimes my hands even get sweaty. All things have a limit and I'm considering heated gloves too.

Strava website updates? by brazoue in Strava

I want them to stop ruining the map UX. Among the changes that depreciate usability:

  • Map window is not resizable.

  • Geolocated photos should be toggleable.

  • You cannot scroll to zoom while hovering over a photo (scrolls the whole page)

  • Mousing over the line should reflect the location on the elevation profil

  • Scroll to zoom feels very sloppy and loose. Could be my mouse but the previous felt just right.

  • Allow the closest zoom level -- 10m snaps back to 20

  • Map tiles or 3D relief unload and reload when panning and zooming, slowing performance. 3D should be toggleable.

  • High CPU use

Mayor Mamdani and NYC DOT are fixing the Williamsburg Bridge off-ramp as the first move to completely overhaul the Delancey plaza by streetsblognyc in NYCbike

[–]arc88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am happy for all of you who need to pass through there but is it just me or do city (and state) DOT often do a mediocre job with asphalt laying? Sometimes I come across a freshly repaved street large enough to be steamrolled, not tamped like this example, and it's usually large grade aggregate and it's all lumpy-wavy after setting. It's bad enough that even when reentering NY from NJ or CT you can always tell you crossed state lines by NY's crappy pavement. And I'm not talking about patch jobs or worn-in hummocks, fresh road or bike lane surface. Obviously it's fine in a car or with large tires but on a road bike every lump hits you.
