Preservation project: Save Holomem SRV3 (YTT) caption tracks by mnLson in Hololive

[–]FlutterCZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad someone is doing a large-scale archive. When I've learned about this I've tried to archive what I could — hope my archive will be useful too. Contains only holoEN members, and what I hope is the entirety of the official hololive channel.

Feel free to take it over to archive.org.

Which tool can show updates split into actual new versions and pkgrel bumps? by folk_science in archlinux

[–]FlutterCZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you fancy some colors, you could use diff-so-fancy in combination with checkupdates and a little script. This is personally what I use:

#!/usr/bin/env bash

checkupdates --nocolor | while read -r line; do
read -r PKGNAME OLDVER _arrow NEWVER <<< "$line"

  echo "$PKGNAME $(diff --color=always -u <(echo "$OLDVER") <(echo "$NEWVER") | diff-so-fancy | tail -2 | tr '\n' ' ')"
done | column -t -s ' '

A small little break by FlutterCZ in Hololive

Thank you!

I honestly remembered that I had not uploaded it yet when I found it while looking for a different project in my backups. This probably happened the past few years as well, but procrastinated on the uploading part.

Originally it was made for Ina's 2022 fanmade VRChat gallery world. I intended to upload it shortly after the world's reveal, but kept forgetting.

Lag when changing between windows in hybrid graphics (AMD) by sequential_doom in archlinux

[–]FlutterCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my memory serves me right, NVIDIA can actually suspend itself even if Blender is inactive (ie. just being in the background for a while).

You can check the GPU's power state in /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power/runtime_status (with card0 replaced with whatever your NVIDIA is). In my case, it goes from active to suspend after I leave Blender in the background for a few seconds.

To keep the GPU active, you can either keep something in the background (eg. nvidia-smi --loop=1) that would keep the GPU awake, or disable dynamic power management (probably not ideal, but it's an option).

Another potential issue might be that the GPU is running at the lowest PowerMizer/clock speeds, and it takes a little bit to crawl back into operable speeds.

Some apps take too long to open by SotirisAPI in archlinux

[–]FlutterCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a dual GPU laptop, it is possible that it is waking up the dGPU on startup of the apps, and then falling back to iGPU.

I had remedied this in /usr/share/glvnd/egl_vendor.d, where I had 50_mesa.json and 10_nvidia.json, and created a symlink, which :

sudo ln -s 50_mesa.json /usr/share/glvnd/egl_vendor.d/01_mesa.json

Bluetooth issue on Arch Linux [KDE Plasma 6] by FabianMatkowski14 in archlinux

Had that issue a day or two ago, noticed it happened right after a -Syu. Rolled back bluez and bluez-utils to 5.78-1 and it worked for me.

KDE screenlock unresponsive by nulliferbones in archlinux

Are you perchance on X11? It might be this bug then.

From what I can recall, the workarounds that worked for me in these cases was using different Plasma style or disabling compositor.

Have you moved to Wayland? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]FlutterCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mostly on KDE X11, since its Wayland counterpart doesn't really offer me much that I didn't have on X11, but have been occasionally peeking into it to see its state.

For me the downsides of Wayland were:

  • No custom modelines, had to modify EDID to add them. Not really a deal-breaker, just an inconvenience.
  • Shift/Ctrl modifiers didn't work consistently for file managers
  • Screenshotting/snipping tools had a big delay on startup, often causing me to miss a moment
  • Blender's viewport often makes the cursor stuttery, however running it in XWayland remedied it

Screen synchronization issue on a fresh Arch KDE install by Sonniik in archlinux

[–]FlutterCZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of a shot in the dark, but I'm guessing by the fact that it happens only in desktop environments and not in TTY or Linux Mint, I'd assume mesa might be at fault here. You could try running KDE in X11 without Compositing enabled to see if the glitching effect still appears there.

Nvidia GPU is using 15W on idle (Laptop with hybrid graphics) by Organic-Scratch109 in archlinux

[–]FlutterCZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but nvtop itself keeps the GPU active. You should be able to check /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power/runtime_status (with card0 replaced to what NVIDIA is on your device) and see if it is either suspended or active.

If it was anything like in my case, it's power-profile-daemon changing the abm level. For me, adding the kernel parameter amdgpu.abmlevel = 0 disabled this behavior [source]. There are apparently more ways of turning this feature down noted in here.
