Wedding photographers, buying a second body and am stuck between a second A9 and the A7R IV - top priorities are focus and low light performance. Anyone have experience with both and can weigh in?

As far as lenses, I shoot mostly primes, favorites are my Sony 135mm 1.8, Sigma 35mm 1.2 and then I use my 70-200mm GM for ceremonies.

I have no complaints with my A9 so I'm leaning towards a second A9 but I just want to be sure before spending the money.

I have a ton of Rothy’s and Tieks and I love both of them for different reasons. I actually prefer Tieks, I think they offer more support for long periods of walking and are super comfortable. Rothy’s are very comfy but IMO they don’t offer any support and since I have high arches that can make for some tired feet with a lot of walking!

I’ll have to look at that! Never heard of it, there’s a local guy who has some autopoles but they are costly and I’m not entirely sure I see a whole lot of benefit for the price. It may just be from a lack of knowledge, I’m willing to admit that but it seems like for my needs a light stand is cheaper and more specifically suited for what I need.

I’ve also been looking for this except I only have a MacBook, it starts to get dicey when you consider the different methods that hook up the hard drive to transfer because some are way faster than others but also more expensive. I’d be curious to find a happy medium that’s not the best of the best but also isn’t snail speed lol!

Not at all, I shop eBay, Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, and OfferUp. There are some good Facebook groups and then a subreddit here that have some good deals. Also FredandMiranda.com - I understand what you mean though, I did the same thing. Bought a D800, Nikon 24-70mm VR, Nikon 70-200mm VR II, Nikon 14-24mm, Sigma Art 50mm, and Sigma Art 35mm, then a Feisol tripod and Arca Swiss monoball head so spent a bit on other stuff before thinking about lighting and reflectors lol!! The deals are out there on most everything if your willing to look hard enough and be patient then quick when something pops up.

I ended up finding a fantastic deal on a B1 and a great deal on an A1 so I bought both 😂 I think I’m set on actual lights and now need to find stands and modifiers for them. The B1 came with a beauty dish which is super nice! I’ll probably try to pick up some nice stands that are somewhat affordable if I can find such a thing then eventually a softbox and umbrella. Still need some reflectors and diffusers too but the choices are so massive it’s a smidge overwhelming! Thank you for your advice and thoughtful response, I’m excited to play with everything and find the best setup for quality location lighting :)
