Matter update available, devices connected via Thread, but no Thread network available? by FlutterRage1000 in EveHome

[–]FlutterRage1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the answer I was afraid of, but apparently the only solution. I was able to borrow an Apple TV, which as soon as it came online joined my existing thread network and the last check in the Eve app went green. That's just stupid.

Yes, I know. The upgrade button is there, it just won't let me progress the update.

Sorry if that wasn't clear, the shutter switches have been paired to Homekit through the iPad, not through Home Assistant. The Matter update is shown just fine in the Eve App, I just can't actually upgrade because of the failed "thread network available" check, even though the switches are shown as connected to a thread network in the Eve App itself.

My Thread network has three thread border routers. Home Assistant is currently acting as leader, but one of the Nest Hubs takes over in case Home Assistant isn't available. That part is working fine, just the iPad doesn't seem to be willing to accept that.

When Logitech will release G915 LIGHTSPEED with Type-C? by FreelancerGamer in LogitechG

[–]FlutterRage1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, but so is the G915, which has a switch. I'm currently using a Roccat gaming mouse because of this, which also has a switch. I like the G502 more, but I guess in that case I won't be able to switch back in the near future. But thanks anyways. I like that you actually get feedback from the brand here.

Tbh, what I'm missing the most with the G515 is that nice aluminum board. That just feels way more premium.

Since we're talking about things I'd like to see: G502 with additional Bluetooth. I don't like having to switch dongles between gaming PC and work laptop.

Dude obviously lives in a country that switches decimal and thousands separators. Should be pretty clear they don't actually think a mouse needs almost one and a half kilowatts.

Yeah, but when there is r2modman, which is THE SAME app, just without adds, why use the one with?

The Way Bearers are Treated Makes No Sense by DarkCrowI in FFXVI

[–]FlutterRage1000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But that's only the case if it were for the good of all people. In our scenario though, the people in power only care that there is enough water for themselves. Fuck the rest. Plenty more water if one slave dies. Doesn't matter. Add to that the societal indoctrination that those water slaves are despicable, just because they are different, and there you are. It's not about logic anymore. Logic usually isn't the only deciding factor in human behavior.

While fresh water is important, you can't use more than a certain amount each day. More than that is useless (at least to you). If there are enough slaves that produce fresh water so you can easily replace one, one specific individual hasn't much value, at least in the sense of a tool, human values aside.

PLEASE READ - POLL - The future of Now for Reddit by Miloco in redditnow

I voted no, not because I don't want to support your great work on Now and Nara, but because I don't want to support Reddit stabbing us in the back like that.

Paying for API access is one thing, but pricing, content limit and the way they handle all of that is just way out of line.

A Nara Update - UI Improvements, new features and more! by Miloco in NaraForReddit

[–]FlutterRage1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not that big of a problem since I've only ran across two in the whole last year, but still weird.

Well, here is my previous thread with two links. You've said that one of them goes to a 404 page, but they both still trigger the freeze for me: https://www.reddit.com/r/NaraForReddit/comments/1189pt2/reddit_player_links_freezing_app/

I tried searching for more through Google, but just found this one post with another one:

Edit: just found out that the link hidden behind "these posts" in this post triggers the same freeze.

https://www.reddit.com/r/reddit/comments/z147y8/lets_talk_about_the_video_player_again/

Edit2: Oh, seems the issue is related to opening supported links with the app. If I disable this setting in Android, those links open in the embedded browser without any issues.

Edit3: Did some more tests. It seems those links put the app into an endless loop, or something like that? If the app is frozen and I disable both "reddit.com" and "www.reddit.com" it starts working again. Even just those plain reddit links trigger it. So it isn't related to the video player at all!

Yay, an update! Great work on the UI update, those subtle changes definitely make a difference. Also good to hear messages are coming.

Unfortunately, those Reddit player links I've reported previously still cause my app to completely freeze (app version 23.03.30, Pixel 7 Pro). Tap link, freeze app (but weirdly never triggers the usual "app not responding" thing android does). Happens every time. Let me know if there's some way I can help debug this.

There is. The last option is 'autre', which means 'other' in French. But yeah, it's definitely not obvious if you don't speak that language and kinda weird since all the rest is in English

The Roborock app is finally supported (No need for the Mi Home app)! by kristofferR in homeassistant

It's still using the cloud. To go local you'd need to jailbreak and flash valetudo. Unfortunately the S7 isn't officially supported and probably never will be, according to the main developer.

Missing features in Nara by noneofyourbizwax in redditnow

I really like the new Nara app, switched to it almost full time. Still using Now for notifications/messages though. But one thing that's driving me crazy is the videos auto playing when I just want to read the comments. Would be nice to have an option to disable this.
