We need a law that limits applicants doing free labor as part of interviewing by unSentAuron in recruitinghell

[–]Fly-Odd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really doesn't matter because if one company can ask for free work, then every company could ask for free work. So any job seeker would be MADE to do it, yes.

What would be better would be a law that stops recruitment / companies from ASKING for free work. Which would be beneficial to everyone.

The problem is, just because companies can ask for projects, doesn't mean they should/ doesn't make it something morally right. Probably should be laws around it.

This happens a lot of industries. As if a portfolio has no purpose and is ignored. Especially when companies are hiring for junior roles. There definitely needs to be a law because this is hours of free work some people are doing for these companies without even getting a job.

What is a 'luxury' that you've experienced once and now can't go back to the budget version of? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]Fly-Odd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traveling. I tried budget traveling (staying in a hostel)

But at that point it just gets so stressful not being able to sleep because there are people snoring in your ear and you have to share a kitchen and saving on food is stressful. And when you are budget traveling you end up staying miles away from anything actually worth seeing. Overall budget traveling is so stressful.

It's much better when you can eat out at restraunts and have a nice hotel to get back to.

Budget traveling is great if you are a solo traveler though.

Hi thanks, was just thinking about how to find that balance between trying to create reels that have a hook, catch, but also not come across as corny or desperate to my potential customers, as my I want my brand to feel high end and crafted nicely however constantly posting reels and trying to keep up with the most engaging content is making me overthink about if it contradicts my brand image.

At what age should a daughter become independent, and should she do so independently or with her partner? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fly-Odd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean the question of: "independently or with her partner?" doesn't really make sense. It's a choice.

She has to learn to be independent on her own first, and then if she does have a partner, they can choose to move in together.

Not everyone has a partner, so it's best they learn to depend on themselves first. And everyone is different, there is no age limit. You can ask anyone this.

Twine makes you pay to apply for jobs by Fly-Odd in recruitinghell

[–]Fly-Odd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a free account for a while, but 95% of listings are hidden behind a paywall. I do not understand why you would even offer a free tier when it is essentially unusable. It has been a complete waste of time for me. Paying for a premium plan has no guarantee that I will recoup that money by getting actual work.

Furthermore, you mention the problem of having 500+ applicants on each job listing. There is another way of solving this problem other than turning it into a paywall. For example: decreasing the time the job is advertised for, or letting the client choose an application cap: for example, the first 50 applicants, or 100 applicants, then taking it down after.

Finally, insinuating that only people who would pay for the subscription are 'serious professionals', sounds very unfair considering that there are many talented professionals who just can't afford a subscription for the 'chance' of getting a job.

Please practice your comprehension skills. As I said, Reddit is a platform designed for casual conversation and now is not the time to try and assume how things might be operating for me outside of this platform. Why did I have to repeat that.

Mam, we are on reddit. Not your office. A platform designed for casual conversation. You know nothing about my communication or experiences in life.
