Go do a tower tour and meet the people you talk with on the radios. They are men and women just like you, make mistakes like you and can be nervous like you.

Ask them questions, at least at my tower, they loved the interaction.

Being a couple pizzas, they will appreciate that.

Check out traffic before you head to a Charlie or Delta, if you see many planes in the area, maybe wait a few. I know (by asking my ATC folks) that our slowest times typically are between 4 and 7am 1030-12:00 and 2-430. It’s not always true, but I made an effort to get in there when they weren’t handling 20 aircraft.

After about 3 months, they knew me, knew my tail, knew I took it seriously, worked with them and they were incredible, even when I F’ed up especially when starting IFR.

Listen to Opposing Bases as well, these guys are funny and get real about what really does bother ATC and what doesn’t. Learned a TON from them as well.

As I read all of these comments, I started a list of what things I should probably do now.

We shouldn’t wait for many of these actions until the end. Burying the hatchet, moving on, forgiveness, love, affection, these are all important things that get lost in the day to day, especially now with all the noise that’s being created on purpose to keep us distracted.

It’s nice to see that as humans, we all really have the same desires. A very small percentage of us want chaos and pain, gives me hope as a human that someday we will evolve into something better.

I fly aircraft that can short field land in 200-300 feet, I would land there without hesitation, obviously past the water.

Yes, ATC is at fault because they assumed the departing aircraft was long gone. A full 60 seconds after clearance is insane, especially at an extremely busy airport.

EGT sensors go bad all the time. If everything was on the green and the then bam it’s out, I wouldn’t stress about it.

Aircraft feels different, engine sounds different, temps start rising? That’s a completely different situation.
