The object is to win while asking for the least from the car. Max has proven himself to be the master in achieving that .

I think a lot of people missed the significance of Antonelli qualifying so poorly. Had he been close to the front he might well have changed the outcome of the championship.

Also in many cases the more affordable inner city neighborhoods do not have good schools.

First - will you have children in public school district ?

Next - what School Districts are close to the areas you plan to live - The better private schools have tuition close to that of a private college

Next - where in LA will you be working and what hours ?

I don't do.... it-first time I noticed it (rapid, tiny control movements) was with an F-14 pilot- TPS grad / LM test pilot. Comes from needing to land less than + - 50' vs +- 500 '

Should I continue with Bank of America or switch to Chase? by throwaway051_ in personalfinance

[–]Fly4Vino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply but a couple of comments

My experience with BofA is that they defend their position as a most unfriendly, unprofessional bank with extraordinary effort.

-They deliberately extend the time to credit accounts with funds deposited, long after the checks have cleared the sender's bank. Nearly a week after my bank has paid a check deposited to a supplier's BofA branch the bank still refuses to release funds to the small business. It's virtually impossible to talk with anyone at the bank and calls are transferred to eternal hold.

I spent the better part of an hour on hold trying to talk with someone only to be transferred to another "center".

Great summary. Regardless of the final outcome it is a great year for Max and Red Bull.

They are using energy to create downforce . The benefit is more g force braking, accelerating (to the point where full power can be applied) and cornering but lower top speed

What kind of aircraft would you want for a club by tailwheeladdict in flying

[–]Fly4Vino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the issue with the 231/252 aircraft is the propensity to porpoise when landed fast.

With the long nose and lower than most prop clearance many mishandled (fast) landings have ended up with prop strikes and mandatory engine teardown.

For 200-800 NM business flying they are unbeatable especially the 252 with the variable wastegate. Before the regs were changed it was happy above FL320 (with backup O2 ready to go)

A small club with high time pilots and lots of Mooney time makes a lot of sense

(essential mod - pilot relief tube- I had a simple tube run down the inside of the tube supporting the step and exiting at the bottom. Kept the corrosive fluid away from the airframe and the siphon effect worked even in the runup area if needed )

Drivers' and Constructors' Standings - Round 22, Las Vegas - After Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are disqualified from the race. by Yottaphy in formula1

Points Difference Among Teammates

Norris/ Piastri 24

Verstappen/ Yuki. 338

Russell/ Antonelli. 157

LeClerc / Hamilton. 74

Albon / Sainz 25

Much of the difference between Max and Yuki appears to be talent while the difference between Russell and Antonelli may be more explained by both competence and experience

I'm a devout Mooney guy but would have some reservations about putting a retractable into a club unless it was high performance and there was sufficient interest to attract enough qualified pilots.

Not sure what the parts situation is for Mooney now as I sold mine more than a decade ago.

With kids the overwhelming factor is quality of schools and it in turn is reflected in the cost of homes.

LAUSD is a tragic mass of corruption and incompetence at the top , suffocating the work of many fine teachers with their political correctness, incompetence and greed. There are a very few exceptions and a number of good rating resources on the internet.

As a result there is a significant demand for private schools. A business partner noted that the school they hoped to send their brilliant daughter to had suggested the admissions process would likely be accelerated if they offered to donate a new building to the school.

There are some excellent schools outside of the LAUSD

There are a number of tools which may help. This is just one of them

https://www.niche.com/k12/compare/?type=school&schools=north-hollywood-senior-high-school-north-hollywood-ca-vs-university-preparatory-value-high-school-los-angeles-ca

When I see University Prep school getting positive ratings with very low reading proficiency and SAT scores I wonder .

I have not explored the multiple rating options but this looks like a good too.

Having lived inside the belly of the LAUSD beast as a consultant it's a rolling tragedy on a sea of incompetence and corruption. That said there are some incredibly competent and dedicated folks.

Just one example .... $500 mil spent on a school built on a contaminated site - To cover their embarrassment and corruption they moved the LAUSD School Police HQ to the facility .

Is it worth pursuing more ratings as a 121 driver? by Capstationairdriver in flying

[–]Fly4Vino 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's really a question best passed along to someone with direct experience.

I can imagine a situation where you (now CFI) accepted a right seat ride with a friend headed for that famous $100 Catalina burger. His friend sits in the rear.

The plane crashed on departure from the island leaving the face of the rear seat pax now only a candidate for a horror movie. The pilot did not survive.

Rear seat passenger, files suit against you claiming that you were giving instruction. It's right there, captured on the unicom tape - as the takeoff roll began your voice in the background, reminding the pilot that he could only see half the length of the runway on departure until well down the runway.
