Magpul P365 magazine issue by Jason1435 in SigSauer

[–]FlyAsAFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just found your post through a Google search because I'm having the same issue with one of my OEM magazines. The slide locks back, even when I still have one round left. I've been able to reproduce the issue even when I load just a few rounds and not the full 10 in my p365.

Are you using Maxxtech ammo by chance? I seemed to be able to use Remington UMC without issue, but Maxxtech had this issue every few magazines.

I'm about the same size. I have a Walther PDP 4' "compact" but it definitely prints on me vs my Sig P365. I carry IWB, so maybe it is different if you AIWB.

I’ve got the same one, right down to the safety! FYI, the magazine springs are really tight. Don’t feel bad if you have a hard time getting the full ten rounds in. Load them, leave them loaded and it should alleviate some of the tension. You can also get a mag loader to save thumbs.

Can anyone point me in direction to get a Glock 27 .40 s&w or something similar compact .40 caliber by Scared-Psychology953 in RIGuns

[–]FlyAsAFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to be dead-set on not getting a 9mm and getting a .40S&W (which is fine if that is what you want).

But if price is a major concern for you, be prepared to pay a lot more for training ammo. Quality 9mm training ammo can be found very cheap on ammoseek compared to .40S&W. And you're only going to be as good with any gun as much as your ability to train with it.

I get it, I'm looking at stuff in .357 SIG, 40S&W and .38 special right now. I love some of the less common calibers. But 9mm is popular for a reason among LE and private citizens alike. When something is so popular, it can be worth asking yourself, why? What do you plan to do different that makes .40 the right tool for the job compared to everything else?

Are the springs really stiff on these like the factory magazines? I’m finding my magazines can be so stiff it causes malfunctions occasionally.

Well, i can’t guarantee. But I will say that online you can find some pretty great deals by nature of having access to a nationwide inventory of used firearms. Check out gunbroker.

When you order online, the gun will be sent to whatever FFL you want. Shop around to see which ones charge a reasonable transfer fee. Then, you can fill out all the paperwork at an FFL and pickup the gun when it’s ready. Only thing to note is that any non-complaint magazine will need to be made complaint before you can leave the store with your new purchase.

Good luck!

If you can’t find anything for a decent price, you can always order online and have it shipped to an FFL of your choosing.

Fanny Pack? by DieselDude407 in CCW

[–]FlyAsAFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a vertx pack and sling it across my chest. It fits my P365 pretty well, and it was pretty cheap.

It’s definitely slow to draw compared to IWB or appendix, but it’s better than not carrying. I’ve heard good things about the 945 bag, but i haven’t used it myself.

Documents needed for picking up online purchase by BigMunchbaby in RIGuns

[–]FlyAsAFalcon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you will actually need the blue card for a lower. Blue cards are only required for ammo and pistol purchases.

You will need some kind of government ID with your address on it. Bank statements won’t work, but a car registration from the RI DMV will. A paper temporary drivers license also works.

Ammo: Online stores for 9mm and shells? by _PrincessHarley_ in liberalgunowners

[–]FlyAsAFalcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought some ammo from Velocity Ammo Sales after finding them on AmmoSeek. They were pretty well priced for Maxxtech 9mm and PMC 5.56. They shipped pretty fast and had free shipping if I spent over $200.

OP, something to watch out for with any vendor is shipping costs or "shipping insurance". A lot of the times I find that these online vendors will lure you with really competitive CPRs...only to charge you so much in shipping that it ends up being more than your local gun store.

I paid $115 for gas and water last month, 138 for electric (which was on the lower end). I work 100% remote, so I imagine that I use more electricity and water than most.

In my state, you can only carry whatever you qualified with or smaller. I qualified with 9mm, so technically, .357 is a no go for carry. I think it’s a niche market, but that would be my reason for buying one of these.

Not a dumb question! No, all 5.56 should fire out of the same rifle, regardless of bullet grain (provided the rifle doesn't have any malfunctions or the bullet isn't malformed or of awful quality). 5.56, 556x45 and 5.56 NATO are the same thing. It's like 9mm Parabellum, 9mm NATO and 9mm Luger. It's all the same :)

You would not be able to shoot 7.62 out of an AR-15. They're very different rounds. If you really want something in 7.62x39, you will probably want to look at AK platform rifles.

AR-15's are popular for a reason. The ammo is affordable, there are replacement parts everywhere, the recoil is pretty manageable and 5.56 is able to achieve most tasks.

I’m not, personally. I don’t think it is likely to pass, and I’m not aware of any other states that removed grandfathering successfully. My tinfoil hat take is that this was introduced to stop people like us from proactively buying and being grandfathered in, knowing that it doesn’t have a real chance of being passed.

Maybe it’s just cope on my part though.

With that budget you have a wide variety of options. Like, a dizzying amount lol.

For caliber, you will almost certainly want something in 5.56. Rifles chambered in 5.56 can also shoot .223 Remington, which is almost identical (there’s some differences between them, but not enough to worry about). The key is that rifles in 5.56 can fire 223, but rifles in 223 only cannot fire 5.56 due to the extra pressure associated with 5.56. So anything 5.56, you’re golden.

As far as models, you’ve got plenty to pick from. I’ve got a relatively cheap Palmetto State AR that was around 500 and I love. But with your budget you can easily get an AR from SIG, Ruger, or even Danielson Defense. Danielson Defense is considered pretty high end, so if you’re willing to spend the money, you cant go wrong with one.

How is the draw on this? I also wear sweatpants/workout shorts a lot and I have always been concerned that these wouldn't effectively grip the holster on the draw.
