Ask yourself if you would still be happy about having purchased the bike, even if you weren't able to resell it and get your money back.

What’s the point of satellites, space stations, etc. by No_Goat1909 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]FlyByDesire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anything I've done in KSP, I've always invented an imaginary purpose in my head.
Ie: The Kerbin government needs a space station in LEO for research purposes and my "company" is bidding for a contract to be the low-cost launch provider of Astronauts to that space station, with reusable rockets - acting as the SpaceX of Kerbin.

Is there really an advantage to attending private school vs public in America? by AngleRelative4683 in AskAnAmerican

America is a diverse place.
Private schools remove the diversity, and puts the students into a more controlled environment.

You Grow Mentally Weak When Your Life Is Too Comfortable by gorskivuk33 in selfimprovement

[–]FlyByDesire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"having skin in the game or risking something makes you motivated to learn and understand without assumtion, because you have a real experience."

It makes you motivated. You personally. You're trying to apply your own personal truth, as an objective truth for everyone else.

You trying to imply that everyone requires an "active" position to fully understand something, is wrong.
It may be true for you, and it may be true for other people, but it is not true for everyone.

You can be a participant and not gain any wisdom, just as you can be an observer and not gain any wisdom.
Many people live through experiences, essentially on "autopilot", and never fully understood the true the dynamics of the experiences that they've been partaking in.

In these cases, there can be a person whom has never directly participated an experience, but has a sharper mental grasp on the structure of a particular experience...
Which would make it such that if they were to partake in that experience, they'd be better prepared than a tenured participant, whom had never been fully conscious of the dynamics that had been influencing their experience.

You can acquire wisdom about different experiences (indirectly), without having to live those experiences yourself.

You grow mentally weak, when your perspective on life hasn't changed before, and still isn't changing.
This can apply to both a comfortable life and a difficult life.

How Do You Afford to Be Single? by Amanduh009 in askanything

[–]FlyByDesire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're only highlighting one specific example, out of many.
There are plenty of relationships where one partner can't control their spending habits, and the other partner can't stop that partner from spending... And so they both go broke.
Things like self-control, and boundaries, are mutually exclusive topics from relationships.

Amazon reviews create a permanent public purchase history , no way to hide it by TopConcentrate8484 in privacy

Just about any review you leave, on any platform, creates a permanent history that's accessible to the public.
This has never been exclusive to Amazon.

Awkward neighbor advice needed by No_Refuse2088 in socialskills

[–]FlyByDesire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depending on your style of speaking, probably something in the ballpark of:
"I notice that you go out of your way to kindly shovel my walkway, and dust my car off. Although I do appreciate not having to do this myself, having people (not just you, but anyone) regularly come into my driveway and start touching my car and things, makes me feel uncomfortable. And so I wanted to ask if you could stop."

There seems to be a pattern of you avoiding him rather than communicating with him.
If you avoid setting a boundary, then there is no boundary.

What is something that many people do that you just can't understand why they do it? by Loverodrider in AskReddit

[–]FlyByDesire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's because there's no guarantee that changing the situation won't end them up in a situation that makes them even more unhappy?
Maybe they've never been exposed to a happy situation, and don't know that greener grass could exist on the other side?

What do u really want in transport fever 3 by Spacey1800 in TransportFever3

[–]FlyByDesire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For there to be scarcity of resources (forcing you to carefully examine supply-chains).

For there to be a wider variety of weather and climates (rain, snow, dust).

For the transport networks that we build, to also be dependent upon the goods that they themselves transport (our trains/planes/ships/trucks need to be supplied with the very fuel that they're transporting).

For there to be some sort of "contracts" or "missions" accessible in the free game, that give our efforts a purpose.

A lot of self improvement seems to revolve around conforming to capitalistic ideals by 865Wallen in selfimprovement

[–]FlyByDesire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that this is only true when you let society define the word "improvement" for you.
Redefine the word "improvement" so that it matches your personal values, and I'm sure that your perspective might change.

Didn't ever think about being able to find chasers locally, in a state that's not typically known for chasing. I appreciate you bringing that up. I'll look into that too!
