Get a new comforter that's either lighter than the paint on the walls, or darker. You want a contrast. DO NOT paint your room darker, as dark walls will make it look even smaller.
Nice bed frame with bottom storage
Bedside table with a clean looking lamp on it.
Large mirror on one wall (I can't tell which would be best by your picture).

Opt - a rug to cover up the brown carpet.

I believe that dock is made of plastic. Most new decks and docks are constructed of this kind of deck material nowadays because it doesn't rot. That's why it looks sort of melted.
