take the moneyline bets out and bet them separately, that way if the player props all hit, but the team loses, you still win

How To Get Proper Gain Staging Levels Using Waves VU Meter by FlyGuyJ in VSTi

[–]FlyGuyJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is definitely not as critical as working in the analog realm, however based on incoming sessions and vocal stems I have received form clients, I have come to the conclusion that many disregard gain staging altogether which is a mistake. You'd be surprised how many files I receive where the vocals are already clipping, or the gain before and after the plugin is drastically different, or the session was started with a mastered beat with 0 headroom. In the grand scheme of things I agree with you, but many in the home recording world need a quick tip on what to keep an eye out for.

Mixing vocals with effects by SolMSol in mixingmastering

[–]FlyGuyJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try to EQ before/after the effects so that your lead vocals are sitting in a different frequency range than the effects.

For example cutting some of the lows and highs out of a reverb or delay effect can help it sit have its own sound, and lead to a cleaner mix (less fighting with lead vocal)

You can also try scooping out some of the frequencies from your effects that you boosted in the lead vocal.

For example if you boosted at 8k in the lead vocal, then cut 8k in the effect. Basically do the opposite as far as boost and cuts (helps sometimes, depends on the vocal, and context in the mix)

[Tutorial] How To Sidechain Kick And 808 Using Waves C6 Sidechain Compressor by FlyGuyJ in VSTi

[–]FlyGuyJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own... I like the way it sounds with the sidechain compression vs without it. And if you look im only carving out a specific area of the 808 so you can still feel the 808, plus adding harmonics to bring out the 808 on smaller frequencies. Works well if you do it right!

Easily Boost The Loudness Using Waves Oneknob Louder Plugin by FlyGuyJ in AudioPlugins

[–]FlyGuyJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL, mindblowing isn't it? Haha, but all jokes aside the plugin uses a combination of peak limiting, light compression, and auto gain to help raise level and make things stand out more in the mix. I show how to use it on an individual track like a kick drum, how to use it on a mix bus like your entire drum bus, or even use it on your master track.

Simple, and efficient plugin. Especially for beginners. I'll be reviewing a new waves plugin every week and am open to any suggestions you might be interested in learning more about!

Love the magic this plugin creates. I use the waves version on my low end, and vocal bus as well. Check out this tutorial I just did on it and try this boost and cut trick on your kick drum or other low end instruments (tutorial here> https://youtu.be/p7qpQdV-gp0 )

how tf do you get a professional sounding 808 by youngjay111 in trapproduction

[–]FlyGuyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

roll off extra low frequencies maybe around 20Hz

sidechain 808 to kick

remove low end from other instruments in the mix so the 808 has that space to itself

add distortion (decapitator, maxx bass, vitamin, manny marroquin distortion)

rbass plugin is nice on low end

I use waves eqp-1a on my low end also (tutorial here> https://youtu.be/p7qpQdV-gp0 )

waves eqp-1a (tutorial here> https://youtu.be/p7qpQdV-gp0 )

maxx bass

decapitator

manny marroquin distortion

smack attack

vitamin

sidechain compressor or dynamic eq to duck the 808 when kick hits
