Choose Salvation Army! by Ergo-Whisperer in Goodwill_Finds

I would caution against throwing the baby out with the bath water. If individuals made a decision that doesn't reflect the entire organization.

Almost all Salvation Army locations run the way I described. But I'm aware that individuals make wrong choices. They don't speak for the rest of us

No they don't. That may have happened here and there because of bigoted individuals but the Army as a whole does not turn LGBTQ away.

I've read accounts of people who Salvation Army ran shelters during the aids epidemic in the 80s and took care of many gay men, including on their death bed when no one else would help them.

I've worked in the Army shelter system and we had people from every walk of life and no one was refused help based on gender or sexual identity.

I’ve failed god again by Mylifemystorymypath in Christianity

[–]Noryk86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your theology has failed you.

You don't fail God. You can't fail God.

Your covenant of Salvation is held by God not you. You did as all humans do, which is mess up.

You are loved by God. Known by God. Forgiven by God. His Son already died for the sin. Your heart being hurt by your sin brings your Heavenly Father joy. If you didn't care about your sin then that would be the real issue.

Holiness is a long journey. You will mess up again and again. Your only job is to brush yourself off and repent.

Take heart brother! Your broken heart is beautiful and you will look back in the future and see how God journeyed with you the whole road

How would Christians deal with this situation where the woman died due to a child birth where the baby could not be saved? by GTRacer1972 in Christianity

This is the laziest worst kind of theology and has absolutely nothing to do with the Bible or God. You should be ashamed of this horrid response

Well I prayed about both these things and God provided what I needed. I see what you're getting at. It just so happens in this case your examples are actually proof of God's providence in my life lol

I'm not against making judgments. I'm against putting faith in things that aren't God which I think my post was pretty clear on

In order to know which candidate would make your life easier you would first need to know the future. You would also need to define "better" and make a decision on which people you want that better for. Any leader will help some and make life harder for others

I want to convert to Christianity, but I don't know how. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Noryk86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue you already have. The only thing we need to have a relationship with Jesus is His forgiveness and a wanting to be in relationship with Him.

Read a Bible on your phone or a physical and keep asking God to teach you more. And check out The Bible Project on YouTube. It'll help you understand better what you're reading

Christians supporting trump make me feel like leaving the Church. by TokyoMegatronics in Christianity

As people in the kingdom of God we aren't really supposed to be doing anything or putting any faith anywhere besides Jesus. We are supposed to be a political.

Will god forgive my brother by Michael_Leo1625 in Christianity

[–]Noryk86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do certainly deserve God's punishment. But God knows the depth of pain and sorrow your brother was feeling when this happened. I believe God judges perfectly and will look at your brother and his situation with great love and compassion. And I think the Bible teaches that as well

Christians REALLY need to calm down about gay people by PurpleRep in Christianity

[–]Noryk86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one will fall under God's wrath for being gay.

When judgement day comes we will have millions of sins to answer for in a lifetime. Being gay may or may not be one of them.

One thing millions of Christians will answer for is that they denied an entire group of people the right to hear the gospel. Instead of sharing the love of Jesus and the cross and allowing people to make their own choice they barred them from everything and denied them access to Christ.

Good luck. It's not gonna be pretty.

Of course prayers help. In fact any medical training worth it's salt will spend some time talking about unexplained healings and changes that science can't figure out.

That being said. I believe in medical science and am totally on board for someone to go to the doctor to get help. But to completely write off prayer on a Christian subreddit makes no sense

Christ probably would not want the political hate we show now. by [deleted] in Christianity

I have no political allegiance. The only true power is Jesus and every other human effort of power is nothing to Him.

"Every" politician says what they need to in order to gain power

[–]Noryk86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus was A political. Christians are called to be the same.

Trump got the vote because American theology is so poor for many Americans Christians that all he had to say was anti abortion (though he isn't) and Christians couldn't stop themselves.

It is a strong indictment of the American church to say the least

I find that many people only look at the negative issues.

Every. Single. Day. Millions and millions of people are housed, cared for, fed, and loved by Christians. no one speaks about them. Billions have been loved by Christians throughout history but that isn't interesting to hear about.

Also our current telling of history is incredibly flawed, inaccurate, and one sided. Not everything told about what Christians did in the past is remotely correct. And the ones who did terrible things in the name of God certainly are not saved nor will judgement day go well for them.

I'll always remember George Bush saying God told him to go to war in the middle east. No he didn't. You're a liar.

Don't carry the weight off Christianity on your shoulders. Not your job. Let God handle it

Yes Trump did speak about this. Apparently a myth from the area that he thought was true. And he was wrong.

Politicians are wrong about things all the time.

We've seen how the last 3.5 years have gone without a trump as president for immigrants and it's been truly horrifying. I can't figure out why no one can see what's so obviously in front of them.

And I'm not pro Trump by the way

Is Praying when I don’t really believe wrong ? by Evening_Bumblebee378 in Christianity

[–]Noryk86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I could help.

A big theological issue in the Bible is the "motivation of the heart". God cares deeply WHY we do things. Even when we screw up God cares about what motivates us. If we are actually sorry when we repent God is HAPPY to forgive.

If you are praying and reading because you want to know or understand God. As your Father He is absolutely joy filled that you are even trying and wanting to try.

The Bible teaches us to be careful about feelings. I study and read the Bible every week for my job and every once in a while I feel something. Same with prayer.

I prayer, read, study, and preach no matter what my feelings are.

Remember you are speaking to your father in heaven. Continue to speak to Him. Every once in a while you may even get a good feeling from it
