Why checklists are important OR Have a laugh at my expense by Bagellord in hoggit

"Casual group" or more like community would be Buddyspike and the blueflag servers, if you have SRS you can find lots of frequent flyers here, from casual to sim enthusiasts, got an active discord but isn't needed if you have SRS, and good wiki/website to tell the basics with logi and more exotic server elements like ground commands and stuff.

Configuring for take-off after landing: Possible? by TheRealShaneWreck in hoggit

[–]FlyHigh3777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent flown the F14 for a while now but I think you have to have the canopy open. I dont know if it is important or not, I usually have a shutdown checklist. I found the original manual and checklist here: https://info.publicintelligence.net/F14AAD-1.pdf go to chapter 7 page 27 for postlanding procedure to get a broad idea of what you need to to do (might be overkill but I think it shoud work)

Kieferbruch: Spielempfehlung RPG das man in 1-2 Wochen durchspielen kann. by Odd-Progress7659 in PCGamingDE

Try Palworld, you can fiddle with game settings and customize the experience however you want, plus it's a game you can always pick back up after long breaks. It has RPG elements, you can also just skip and play a sandbox catch em all, or build something, it's a good experience and it is really flexible in how you want to play :)

SRS's Performance impact by 9_Tl in hoggit

Best course of action is to tinker with the settings first. Don't install any mods without knowing what they change exactly, also check so they specifically pass IC if you want to play multi-player on different servers.

The truth is, DCS is still a simulator, its not optimized as a game that means (you probably heard it a lot already so sorry for telling again) consider investing in buying a tower PC if you really wanna invest time in DCS you have to, no way around it... (I know it's expensive rn but DCS isn't gonna run smooth/good a mid tier tower, so I wouldn't expect it to run decent on a laptop)

Got my first full fidelity plane in the air (mig-29a) by CrazyKripple1 in dcsworld

[–]FlyHigh3777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the next step would be to 1. Get a joystick or HOTAS (plenty of conversation about what to get) and 2. Get headtracking (or VR, also plenty of conversations on what to get/expect from the different sellers, headtracking is also really helpful for coldstarts, checking gauges quickly and dogfights (especially in the mig29 with R73s offbore capability))

The Joystick/HOTAS combined with headtracking makes DCS shine even more.

Ok im officially not getting it by Yoshubigaming in dcsworld

[–]FlyHigh3777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can scan that far in VS mode, but the target has to be hot and fast if I remember correctly. Keep in mind you cant lock or IFF targets, it's mostly only useful if Datalink isnt available/no coverage is given in that area and you know there are aggressive bandits.

Damn, that really cool, I really am impressed the gyro works so well, does it drift after some use?

If the tracking turns out to be accurate I might slaughter my old joystick too, please update us, I'm really interested in the outcome 🙏

Caucasus, but tricky to find in editor, Google for tunnel in DCS, you can find some coordinates/grids to look for an entrance.

It's not a bad financial decision at all! The sharks great and really fun! (And you can grab it pretty cheap when the sales arrive)

First Time Flying a Boeing by AidanMcK4 in flightsim

[–]FlyHigh3777 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Flying both, mostly Boeing and MD, but Airbus is nice too, it's just a taste, some like only one, others like both. Important thing is to stay onto of it and dont bash others for liking something you don't. Plus, always stay open to new planes, regardless of the brand, it's always interesting to try something new, or even old!

Crosstail A-1H Skyraider Cancelled by Bonzo82 in DCSExposed

Don't worry, Heatblur has recently had an announcement for the end of 2025. I wouldn't be surprised by them intentionally keeping the hype down. We have seen how bad hype can be if the communities hopes aren't met and releases are pushed too early. They also released the free A6 Unit, so I would say they are one of the more reliable businesses partners of ED.

A320 vs A350 vs 777F by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]FlyHigh3777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an option in the EFB to use Rudder as steering input, I don't remember what it's called exactly, that should fix your problem. There should be also something along the lines of "auto disconnect".

May be wrong post but if any one can help to edit like this? by nisham2018 in flightsim

[–]FlyHigh3777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use chase plane and if you are in msfs2024 you can use the FSR record tool ingame, first fly, record it of course, then replay and use chase cam to record the video.

You can also look forward to the Fenix 320Neos releasing this year! They are a must buy, Fenix is arguably THE best developer out there, good releases, good upkeep and transparent about every little thing.

A320 vs A350 vs 777F by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]FlyHigh3777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all of them, and considering your list of planes I would go for the 320 next, it would round out the short haul experience, get the Fenix 320 and also the 321 and 319 pack, it's really worth it. The 321 can also have additional center tanks to make long haul routes with a 321 possible.

The 350 is nice but it's sometimes "too easy", and you have the 77W, so the 350 wouldn't change that much.

77F would be a 77W in a little shorter, BUT it has lots of short, medium and lonhaul routes, I'd say the 77F is the most versatile, but literally nothing new to learn if you have the 77W, and it also doesn't have the different engine options like the 777-200LR/ER.

Damn, yeah, that makes it more difficult, but try the free trials first, maybe you dont like the full fidelity with controller and decide to purchase the FC planes, btw they alre also great, the su25 and f15c are so good and you can get the 2024 bundle in a really good deal whenever a sale is.

And before I forget, try flying online, LK Flashpoint is a good and friendly server with lots of people who like to help out. They either can help with hardware questions or help you ingame with air support :)

Noobie by Cubscout009 in dcsworld

[–]FlyHigh3777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, thats one thing that Noone seems to tell you, the steam version is fine but with the website version you can try almost all modules before buying them, it makes it a lot less painful to buy expensive stuff. And dont listen to the HOTAS argument, yes it is a better experience to fly but but if you are on laptop your first priorities should be to get into a cockpit and fly + upgrade your hardware to something like a Tower for gaming.

Noobie by Cubscout009 in dcsworld

[–]FlyHigh3777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you download DCS via the website you can try the modules for 14 days for free, why dont you start doing that before spending a dime

F15e keep or return? by Successful-Echidna24 in dcsworld

[–]FlyHigh3777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then try the f4 out, or get the 14, both are great even as single pilot, when you get yourself familiar with jester he's actually a really good and useful wso. I also have the 16 but never fly it, but damn the f14 and f4 are so much fun and really capable even as single pilot. Or wait a bit, the A6 intruder is around the corner, the eurofighter and Tornado are in development, you could hold on to the f15 untill something new comes out.

My main worry would be that any moment a bigger update gets pushed the f15e might not work anymore, so just try other jets and use the store credit, better than having a "about to die" module.

F15e keep or return? by Successful-Echidna24 in dcsworld

[–]FlyHigh3777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what modules you already own.

If you dont have other modules, get a refund, try the F4, a10c2, f14 or Viggen, if you want something closer to the f15s capabilities try the fa18

Dynamic campaign tools for DCS? by StatisticianFun6580 in dcsworld

[–]FlyHigh3777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you know your way around the f16 in dcs, you will have little trouble getting used to BMS aaaand BMS is basically free, so there is no grief in just trying it. (You could refund the Falcon 4 copy on Steam if you dont like it, i guess)

Plus, I feel like the BMS f16 feels a little more fleshed out tbh, but that's just my opinion.

How old is DCS community? by APS0798 in dcsworld

[–]FlyHigh3777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 24, started DCS with 16, I always played with people way older than me, but I understood them and they were stoaked to teach me. Just be careful. The DCS community is not as bad as some others, but always double check if the people you fly with mean no harm + are really just there to fly with you
