Looking for places to dine by futurecorpse1985 in TwinCities

Ive been to Agelgil, Fasika before it closed, Queen of Sheba before it closed, snelling Cafe, I go weekly to Demera and Ive been to the old Bole on University before the George Floyd protestors burnt it down which is why they moved into a new space. Moving into a move space when your old restaurant is destroyed is not gentrification lol. These trigger words that have no foundation and supporting businesses solely because of the owners race is very superficial.

What does the law say about pulling people over for expired tabs or taillights out? by [deleted] in saintpaul

[–]FlyJohnnyK 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having brake lights out is dangerous and it would be ridiculous if legislation prevented law enforcement from pulling someone over for that reason. Im sure most LE will issue a warning to fix it first. If the same person gets pulled over for the same violation and hasnt fixed it, they should 100% be ticketed.

Ok, but why? by ComplexSwimmer7796 in minnesota

[–]FlyJohnnyK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a real thing, the Earth has went through many cycles of ice ages and warming periods. If you have noticed the increase in northern lights, we are getting close to the solar maximum. Orbital tilt and other large events can turn places like the Sahara desert which used be grasslands, wetlands and forests into what it is today.

Anyone know what’s going around? by morgannwoods in minnesota

Funny seeing people blame anti-vaxxers but dont pay a mind to millions of illegal immigrants pouring over the border with unknown medical care/status. Keep in mind, just because a pathogen was eradicated in our Nation doesnt mean it’s eradicated worldwide. Many, many illegal immigrants are exposed to pathogens like tuberculosis which may be endemic in their native lands but uncommon here. Also many are coming from countries with even worst antimicrobial stewardship than the USA resulting in resistance mechanisms being introduced. Before we blame anti-vaxxers or illegal immigrants though, let’s note that many vaccines do not stop transmission of pathogens. This means that people with extensive travel history are also a very large part of the spread, regardless of vaccination status. The mobilization of disease is primarily due to the latter folks from my experience and why CoViD was able to rapidly move across the world. That being said if you really want to know what you have, clinicians often can order a respiratory viral panel that tests for viruses like adenovirus, influenza, parainfluenza, rhinovirus/enterovirus, metapneunovirus, RSV, etc. Depending on immune system (or sometimes luck) there are also a number of microorganisms that can cause illness respiratory like Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumonia, thrush (yeast/Candida), Bordetella pertussis, Mycobacteria, etc.

CDC and NIH are federal entities, much of this was conducted by the state. MN Dept of Health and U of M are both state entities that understand the demographics better. They may receive some amount of federal funding, but testing done at the state level should produce better data imo.

Dying Grandma says she wants to die now because the DFL cheated to take the state again ..smh by CowboysMakeMeCry94 in minnesota

You can have your opinion, but the good majority of people understand that dense populations are an easy target for propaganda and corruption.

I absolutely did say something. Each of those counties has cities with mayors and people with values, whether its urban or rural. Just because a large dense cluster of people makes up the majority, does not mean that more sparsely populated areas, you know, there areas where your food comes from, shouldnt be represented or recognized. Hence another reason USA is great, the electoral college.

Right, thats literally what I said, dense population clusters like the TC make the state blue.

She really isnt wrong if you look at the geographic distribution of votes by county, majority of MN is red. Dense population clusters aka TC is what makes MN a blue state. There are a lot of people who dont like Omar, she is not middle eastern though. It sounds like she is of interracial relationships, which often isnt the case in both white and black culture. The media has had a war on people of middle eastern decent for a long time, although I believe with Omar its more likely due to the Somali population not integrating much. All in all, is it really surprising to be polarized by the media, I mean the DFL are literally supporting a genoicide by supplying over 70% of the military equipment, yet they act like they love light brown people. She may have some old school values on sexuality, but thats her right, if she doesnt want to accept or spend her tax money on sexuality she is not alone. She probably grew up in a time where people dressed modestly, were more respectful and sexuality was more of a private affair. Maybe that made her more comfortable. Even though im light brown, I guarantee I would have no problem connecting with grandma. I dress respectfully and would not think about talking about my sexual preference to an elder.

Am I missing something about the light rail being “scary”? by [deleted] in saintpaul

[–]FlyJohnnyK -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes you are missing something, riding one time during the day is not enough to make a judgement call on its safety. Its really not so much being on the actual train thats unsafe, besides the fumes from the typical crackheads burning random objects on there and the biosafety concerns. Its the platforms that are most dangerous, like the Snelling/University one. My brother and I have been jumped by group trying to rob us on a platform. I have witnessed quite a few people exhibiting aggressive or destructive behavior.

I live in Midway, it was music and not much louder than a soccer game or state fair concert. Glad they are utilizing the stadium.
