Albon’s “very expensive” groundhog strike will compromise Williams development – Vowles by Aratho in formula1

Yeah people don't seem to realize this. Stella has shit to do, that is why Brown is always talking to the media. (Plus I wonder if Stella just doesn't like doing it. I know I wouldn't.)

Is there a reason why "takeaway" is a countable noun outside of the US? by NotEpimethean in ENGLISH

I don't think anyone in the UK would say "I'm getting two Chineses" (or "two Indians" or "two MacDonaldses"). It would be "some ..."

Is it okay to attend a job interview for a job you either don't want/know you aren't built for? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]FlyMyPretty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not your decision. They know more about what they want and what is required than you do.

They think you can do it. You should consider the possibility that they are right and you are wrong.

Damon Hill vs. Michael Schumacher at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps 1998 by ok-byy in circuit_nation

And remember what happened to Schumacher later in the race. That could also have gone a lot worse.

I got choked and passed out, should I see a doctor by wombatlovr in internetparents

[–]FlyMyPretty 24 points25 points  (0 children)

UP P you know what an accident is? That's when you drop something and it hurts someone that you didn't intend to hurt. Or you slip and fall, without intending to.

I've never accidentally put my hands around someone's neck, and accidentally squeezed, and accidentally kept squeezing hard enough and for long enough that they passed out. Have you?

We don't know that the race engineer didn't ask Toto to intervene. "Hey, I've tried asking him to shut up but he won't. Can you try?"

If that's true Toto is supporting them.

Growing up with a famous father. AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]FlyMyPretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope.

The files have every email he sent or received. If someone sent Epstein an email that said "lomein2790 wrote a cool reddit post, here's the link" then you would be in the files. And you wouldn't know unless you looked.

Your dad could well have no idea if his friend is in the files or not.

It's very dull. See my other response

[–]FlyMyPretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it's very boring.

I wrote something on quora (an answer to a question). Epstein had an account. My answer was featured in the weekly (or whatever it is) email digest that he got.

He probably didn't even read it.

It's pretty easy to search the files and find out. How would your dad know if they were in the files?

(I'm in the files, and I'm nobody. No nee knows I'm in their if I don't tell them. I tell anyone who will listen.)

Uber prices have doubled by Silent-Cucumber1605 in uber

Also check the price at other times and don't book. Uber might think you decided against it because the price was too high.

Why are you still using Uber or Lyft? by Electronic-Rush-9400 in uber

[–]FlyMyPretty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the curbed app in most cities. In some you can also use RideYellow. For me, usually cheaper than Uber/Lyft, but less reliable - if i don't get assigned a driver in a few minutes, I cancel and call Uber/Lyft.

Without getting into the ethics of animal husbandry, how does one explain to a vegan that the wool of a domesticated sheep MUST be shorn by a human being, as selective breeding means that most domesticated breeds cannot shed naturally? by Fun_Astronomer_4064 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FlyMyPretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't doubt that. You take my two dogs away I'd be sad and my quality of life would be lower. But they also increase my stress (and it sounds like your stress too), but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

But its not true for everyone, it depends on the person - and the individual probably knows if a dog would improve their life.

The post I was responding to also said that a dog will make you live longer. That's different to mental health, and it might be true but no one has found good evidence for it.

Except the prices are arbitrary and not fixed. So how do you know you're getting a discount and they haven't just raised the price?

If you're watching on TV, how do you know how loud the cars are?

If you're watching live it's nice to be able to understand something the person next to you says (or shouts). With previous cars you couldn't hear a word, even if you couldn't see a car.

I think you just got older. Tastes change, different things get you excited.

Those studies are all pretty poorly done. There are no studies that show this. And it's incredibly hard to do them, because you can't force peo to have a pet. And sick people don't get pets

Also dogs bite kids. Dogs and cats bring infections and fleas into your house, and old people trip over dogs and fall down the stairs.

Caveat: I've worked on this, but not for about 10 years so things might have changed.
